This book answers one of the key questions about both World Wars - how did Switzerland manage to stay out of both wars despite being geographically located in the center of the turmoil? What question could be more important? The book explores key principles of economic and political liberty that are more relevant than ever. I am both a homeschooling mom of 20 years and now a World History teacher in the classroom, and I find this book valuable for my students.

My daughter really loved this book, and I learned a lot from it as well. The history of WW1 from the Establishment textbooks makes little sense to anyone, but Richard Maybury does a great job coupling the economic history to the events surrounding WW1. The book contains many verifiable footnotes for you to check out if the material gets too "conspiratorial" to you.

Just like the Bible says, "they shall beat their swords into plowshares and shall LEARN war no more". That verse has an incredibly harder impact on me as I have studied how war in the 20th century has fulfilled the prophecies of Christ, "about wars and rumors of wars". Instead of watching battles, watch where the money is going and many questions will be answered.

This is written in a bitter, arrogant, opinionated style.

I understand that war isn't all that Hollywood bills it to be. But I'd rather have the facts alone and leave the hightly edited commentary to parents. Just as big government doesn't trust us to make our own decisions, this author doesn't trust parents to digest the facts with their kids. The "conspiracy theory" style that this is written in is both angry and depressing. Yes, conspiracy exists, but parnets should be the commentators as they compare factual history with the Bible.
