Special weekend devotions consist of original words from a journal, newspaper, letter, or newspaper, and glimpses into life during that era, such as fashion, pastimes, work, and celebrations.
Each story includes a coordinated Scripture and a prayer for todays military, families, or individuals encountering struggles.

kathleen5 Stars Out Of 5Well researched and written, a real faith builder!August 7, 2012kathleenQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is a wonderful book! As the mother of a soldier now on his third combat deployment, I have looked forward to each days devotion. Not only is is well researched and written, it truly embodies the honor, pride and pain of those who wait at home. It speaks of the heroism and selfless commitment to our country's security that those who serve live out everyday and in every generation. Without them, we would not enjoy the freedoms and way of life that we in America so take for granted sometimes. Best of all, it gives the solid reasons why we who have faith, can hold fast to God. The faith of those who have lived this before us, as evil is fought against in each corridor of time, gives hope and courage to those living it now. I love that every devotion taught me something, has a prayer and a Scripture to encourage and touch the heart. This book gives an interesting overview of America, what we have fought for, what this country was founded on, and how God has blessed us in every way.

It's encouraging to me as a military spouse, but also teaching me so much -- about history, about the internal strength God gave to military spouses and about myself. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is a military spouse or to anyone who wants to understand the heart of a warrior's bride better.
