This book is a PERFECT learn-to-sew on your own book for a junior or senior high girl, or learn-with-mommy for a younger girl. It's as step-by-step and organized as a classroom curriculum, but user-friendly and easy to understand. By the end of this book, you will be just about ready to step beyond being a "beginner" sewist and into the "intermediate" category. it's written in a lovely conversational tone, so you can imagine the author sitting beside you as you sew. The projects are practical and offer a wide variety and interest-level. It would be easy for a mom to make a list and buy all the necessary materials for the entire book, as they are clearly itemized; or to buy-as-you-go through the projects. The only major expense would be the sewing machine, as the projects don't require anything expensive, complex, or hard to locate. I bought this book to teach my daughters and have been greatly pleased!
