We were not expecting this to be so wonderful. We sat down to watch it and thought it would be a depiction of John's vision of the Revelation of Jesus Christ while he was imprisoned on the Island of Patmos, but instead it is his recollection of his time with Jesus and also a telling of the lives of the apostles and how they faced martyrdom. John was left to tell their stories. Dean Jones is the most amazing actor, portraying all the scenes on stage all by himself, and his passion for Christ shines through. At one point before the intermission, the sweat was just pouring down him. But he stayed in character and did not miss a beat. This was filmed at a church where he performed the one man production. I was in tears at some parts, with his telling accounts of Christ and the apostles. Dean Jones brought Biblical scenes to life for me. Of course much of it was filled with humor and some "it could have happened that way..." but it was good to imagine the apostles and Christ with a sense of humor as well. We are so thankful that this excellent actor took so much time to do his very best at depicting this story for us. We miss Dean Jones! My husband suggested that we purchase several of these to give as gifts to our Bible study friends.
I have bought more than one of these and given them away. The acting is wonderful, the play itself in what it presents outside of Scripture is in keeping to what I read there. It's not just another work about the ministry of Jesus and his disciples, it gives glory to God.
Dean Jones does an excellent job in portraying the Apostle John. Bringing a range of emotions from laughter to tears. I first saw this program on TBN and wanted it for our Church library. However, I don't know if it was only my copy or if it is a problem with all of the DVDs, my dvd gets out of sink with the audio and is a little frustrating in watching. So right now its in my personal collection.
