Some times we get caught up in activities and forget that the most important part of our chrisitan life is to glorify God. This book points us back to basics but it gives us a good understanding how to get there too. It not only gives us food for thougth but also food for action that needs to be taken to get us where we need to be. It is not a book to be passed over lightly and layed down. I believe we need to read and re-read it and keep it close along side our Bible. Great resource if you want spiritual growth.

I really enjoyed this book. It explained how to put into practice the many ideas on prayer.

I've alway had to look to the puritans to find edifying books on prayer and was happily suprised with Carsons book. Its not overtly devotional, very practical because it all comes from the Word. I agree with the other reveiwer that the practicallity of the 1st chapter was great. Carson doesn't want to write too much of his experience because he believes the Word to be sufficient in supplying prayer practices but who can't learn from Carson, fallible tho he might be? This has impacted me more than most of the puritan and 18-19 century prayer books I've read. I highly admire and respect this man and all his writing. If you want a recent, unique, incredible book on prayer thats not sentimental and man centered, this is for you.

This is the most concise and balanced book on prayer I have ever read. It changed my prayer life. I would highly recommend it.
