I have read through many leadership books and this is one of the greatest books I have ever worked through related to leadership. Out of all the books I had to buy and read during my seminary experience (more than I wish to try to count) this is in my top two!

Though written over 40 years ago, this book is still practical and relevant today for Christian leadership. Covering a broad range of topics rather than just a few aspects of leadership, Chambers brings together an array of subjects that will prove beneficial to anyone reading it. The language of the original edition had become rather dated in the opinion of the editors, so three changes were made to bring the content into the 21st century. First, the use of the singular, masculine pronoun has been replaced with wording that addresses both men and women. This change wasn't necessary, but the editors were uncomfortable with the singular, masculine pronouns and other masculine references to people in general. Second, personalities and authorities mentioned by Sanders who were household names in his day are no longer so today. References have been added to provide biographical information. Third, the New International Version of the Bible has been used rather than what was likely the KJV in the original.
If you are looking for a good overview of Christian leadership principles, this book is the one to read. It doesn't go into great detail on any of the topics, but it does provide an excellent summary overall. I recommend it.

A most invaluable tool one of my early mentors introduced me to and I return to it often. Any young man interested in pursuing my daughters will have to work through this book with me first. A real barometer of maturity.
