ChristianBookPreviews.comBryan Carraways book Spiritual Gifts is an interesting and different look into the topic of Gods anointing of divine gifts on those who accept Christ as Savior. The author presents several views that arent quite traditional, yet they are intriguing. The problem is that Carraway is adamant about his positions and so dogmatic about their correctness, he comes off as a writer who is arrogant, unyielding, and narrow-minded. The readers might have been more accepting of his views if he had couched the explanations of them slightly less confrontationally.
It is very unlikely that everybody who reads this book will agree with every statement that is made, and if the book is read with such an understanding, it actually is stimulating and it provides a lot of useful information. The only problem is that there are times when the author seems to expect the reader to agree with him on statements that are overall a matter of opinion rather than of genuine doctrinal conviction. Anyone who is studying spiritual gifts and would like to look into a few ideas that are perhaps somewhat different and unique will probably enjoy this book, but those who simply want a basic introduction to the concept of spiritual gifts and would rather not have an authorhowever subtlyforcing his opinions on him or her, would probably be better off looking for something else to read.
