Publisher's Description

There never has been and never will be anyone like you. But that isn’t a testament to you. It’s a testament to the God who created you. The problem? Few people discover the God-given identity that makes them unlike anyone else. Mark Batterson calls this divine distinction our soulprint.

God would like to introduce you to yourself.

In Soulprint, Mark pours the contagious energy he’s known for into helping you experience the joy of discovering who you are...and the freedom of discovering who you’re not. The wonderful fact is that your uniqueness is God’s gift to you, and it’s also your gift to God.

A self-discovery book that puts God at the center rather than self, Soulprint encourages you to recognize and explore the five defining moments in your life that will determine your destiny. Along the way, you’ll find that you’re not just turning the pages of a book. You’re turning the pages of your remarkable, God-shaped, world-changing life.

Editorial Reviews

Praise for Mark Batterson

"With Soulprint Mark Batterson has done it again! He has asked the questions that led me into a self-discovery that enlarged my vision of God's purpose in my life."
—Ruth Graham, speaker and author of Fear Not Tomorrow, God is Already There

"Mark weaves us through the Great Commandment with insights that are both winsome and wise, peaking both curiosity and conviction. He calls us to a discipleship free of the trappings of shriveled self-concern, drawing us to give ourselves, with abandon, to others as we heed Jesus’ call to "love God" above all.  This book will fuel clarity of call and persevering strength for those who will journey in obedience to the Gospel – in its wholeness of justice, mercy, and faithfulness – for a lifetime."
—Gary Haugen, president & CEO of International Justice Mission and author of Good News About Injustice, Terrify No More, and Just Courage

"Too many of us are doing life at an unsustainable pace and losing sight of our first love. In his new book Primal, Mark Batterson invites you to rediscover the reality of Christ and His passions. This book will challenge you, push you, and stretch you. You will walk away righteously aggravated, but catapulted into action."
—Craig Groeschel, Senior Pastor of LifeChurch.tv

"Mark, I’m with you. It’s time for the believers to be more. Let’s hear the voice of God and be that Holy passionate fire that we are called to be. It’s the primal way."
—Shaun Alexander, 2005 NFL MVP, acclaimed speaker and author of Touchdown Alexander and The Walk

"As a leader and teacher, Mark Batterson brings imagination, energy, and insight. Mark’s genuine warmth and sincerity spill over into his communication, combining an intense love for his community with a passionate desire to see them living the life God dreams for them. I appreciate his willingness to take bold risks and go to extraordinary lengths to reach our culture with a message that is truly relevant."
—Ed Young, senior pastor of Fellowship Church

"A thoughtful and energetic leader, Mark Batterson presses us to consider how we live out our faith in the world around us. When Mark has something to say, I am quick to listen."
—Frank Wright, PhD, president and CEO of National Religious Broadcasters

Soul Print: Discovering Your Divine Destiny by Mark Batterson was an excellent read. I found it helpful in reflection and study for a few messages I was doing on the life of David. Mark is one of my favorite contemporary pastors/ authors. I found his take on the life of David to be refreshing and insightful. His perspective on each of us having a dual destiny was quite encouraging. Most Christian books would rather simplistically encourage us to make our ultimate destiny to be Christ-like, which he calls our universal destiny and acknowledges is our ultimate purpose in life. But he goes further by identifying our other destiny is unique to each of us: to be unlike anyone who has ever lived. God created us to be someone unique and to do what only we could do. Mark terms you and me as being "incalculably unique". I like that.

God is at work around us to help us become all He longs for us to be but are we willing to trust Him with everything? David did and so can you! Don't quickly read this book. Allow each chapter to soak in and to be absorbed. If you only get one thing from this book absorb this truth, "God wants you to get where God wants you to go more than you want to get where God wants you to go. So take a deep breath, and enjoy the journey (28)."

I received this book to review from Blogging for Books for Multnomah Publishing.

Once again, it's time for a review of a book I have read. I received Soulprint, written by Mark Batterson from Blogging for Books/WaterBrookMultnomah Press.

This is the fourth book I have read from Mark and each one has touched my heart in a different way. The cover art gives a great insight into what is to come in the copy to be read inside. ark describes how each of our lives has a unique "soulprint", much like our unique fingerprints. Nobody has the same and each has its own defining characteristics.

Through the pages of this book, you will be challenged to find your divine destiny that God has placed specifically for you. Obviously, we all have different ones, thus it takes work from each of us to find our own.

Come into this book with an open mind, and a heart looking for answers...a pad and pen will help while going through this study. There is also a study guide included to aid with your efforts.

Once again, a brilliant book by one of my favorite authors/ Please read, study amd find what your true calling is!!!

Have you ever read one of those books that hit its mark on every page? "Soul Print; discovering your divine destiny" by Mark Batterson is such a book. I'm not surprised. I've read his other material; "In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day," "Wild Goose Chase," and "Primal." Each one spoke directly to the heart just as "Soul Print" does.

There are so many people who ask the questions, "Why am I here? _ What did God create me for?" I, too, have asked the question numerous times in my life. Batterson's book takes us on a journey of discovering or rediscovering who we are and why we are here _ to embrace each moment in our lives as defining moments for the purposes of God. To know that it's okay to let things go so that we can move forward in the daily and life long discovery of our purpose in God. Some place this book with "self-help" topics but that would be incorrect. This is a book of self-discovery in which each step is focused on God and not on self. We are defined by who God is and the uniqueness of who we are is found by the creative hand of God.

I have recommended this book to many and will continue to do so. Mark Batterson continues to write books that speak to the believers and leaves them changed for the better when once the book is read through to completion. I look forward to seeing what material Batterson writes in the future. "Soul Print" as found its home on my book shelf along with "In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day," "Wild Goose Chase," and "Primal."

I have reviewed this book for Multnomah Blogging for books program.

Mark Batterson's Soulprint is a thought provoking work that encourages everyone to find their God-given identity, to live the life and be the person that God created each of us to be. Batterson takes the reader through moments in the life of King David to illustrate the purpose of finding our soulprint.

The book was initially difficult to follow as I looked for a progression of Batterson's thoughts as he chronicled the life of David. While the author presents "soulprint" moments in David's life in chronological order, one concept or idea does not connect to the next point. It was as if the author had thoughts in mind and then connected them to David's life.

While the book is, in effect, divided into 6 chapters (5 "scenes" and a closing), the book actually reads as a collection of what could be stand alone essays or blog entries.

As with other Batterson books I've read, this book spends considerable time relating psychological concepts to Scripture. The author is clearly intrigued by mental and psychological theories.

I reviewed this book in conjunction with WaterBrook Multnomah's Blogging for Books program, was not compensated for this review and the opinions expressed are solely mine.
