David Kauffman is a man consumed by grief. His lovely teenage daughter, Emily, has recently committed suicide, or so it seems, until Kauffman finds himself looking into her remarkable violet-blue eyes-in the face of another person. His obsession to discover what really happened to Emily will literally take him to hell and back.     Tell us a little about yourself.  I'm really driven to teach and encourage others into a deeper walk. It can be kids' stories (McGee and Me, The Incredible Worlds of Wally McDoogle, etc) or adult stories (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Eli, The Face of God). I always try to be entertaining and keep you turning the pages, but the bottom line is to reach in and minister to the reader's soul wherever he or she may be with the Lord.

    What was your motivation behind this project?  My motivation is always the same . . . to draw the reader closer to the heart of Christ. If they are still a seeker, I would hope to bring them closer to making a decision for Christ. If they are a believer, I would hope to draw them deeper into Him.

    What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I always try to write at different levels so readers may be ministered to at various levels. First, of course, I wanted to make crystal clear that, despite the counterfeits that try to seduce us, the Bible clearly states we can not communicate with the dead. Second, I wanted to address the reality of heaven and hell and, of course, how our belief in Jesus Christ determines our destination. I also wanted to touch on the dangers of other beliefs such as reincarnation. Then, legalism --how we may be absolutely right, but without the love of Christ, absolutely wrong. And, finally, I wanted to explore a little of the overwhelming love and power of Jesus Christ, Himself.

    Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  My favorite author is John, the disciple. That may sound weird, but I love that he is so simple that a first year Greek student can read and understand him and yet so profound and multi- layered that we can read his writings over and over and always be ministered to more deeply.
