Publisher's Description

What if you could visit heaven and hell, traveling when and wherever you wish . . . without ever dying? What if your teenage daughter, the joy of your life, had died a tragic death and you discovered a way to visit her? What if there were people and beings, on both sides of the grave, who want to stop your return? These are the questions facing novelist David Kauffman. As a single parent he is devastated when his young daughter meets an untimely death. Desperate to contact her, he meets Gita Patekar, a beautiful and committed Christian with a scarred and shame-ridden past. She works for “Life After Life”—an organization dedicated to tracking and recording the experiences of the soul once it leaves the body. Despite Gita’s warnings that God is opposed to contacting the dead, David uses the organization’s computer to try to find his daughter. In the process they discover Gita’s organization has some very deep and dark secrets. A suspense-filled game of cat and mouse begins—both on earth and beyond the grave—as the couple work together, fall in love, and struggle to expose the truth . . . until they come face to face with the ultimate Love and Truth.

Author Bio

Bill Myers (www.Billmyers.com) is a bestselling author and award-winning writer/director whose work has won sixty national and international awards. His books and videos have sold eight million copies and include The Seeing, Eli, The Voice, My Life as, Forbidden Doors, and McGee and Me.

Publisher's Weekly

The prolific Myers steadily plugs along, offering competent novels such as this one, which provides glimpses of heaven while exploring the darker side of the supernatural. David Kauffman is a man consumed by grief. His lovely teenage daughter, Emily, has recently committed suicide, or so it seems, until Kauffman finds himself looking into her remarkable violet-blue eyes-in the face of another person. His obsession to discover what really happened to Emily will literally take him to hell and back. David finds an unlikely ally in Dr. Gita Patekar, a thanatologist from Nepal (she studies death and dying). She's employed by the Life After Life program, which claims to be running a series of studies designed to scientifically track the soul after death. Yet something malevolent lurks beneath the surface since, paradoxically, the search for longevity leads to a loss of respect for human life. As David learns that his obsessive love can obliterate his need for personal faith, Gita discovers her need to learn to love, defying her hyperdependence on logic. Myers likes to flirt with disturbing violence (animal lovers will cringe when a bunny is brutalized), but he stops just short of offending his conservative Christian readers. He also includes dialogue supporting the claims of Jesus Christ, which this same audience will appreciate. As usual, Myers fans will not be disappointed. (Sept.) I couldn't put this book down! Having lost a child myself, I could identify with the desperation the main character felt about his daughter. Although the book is fiction, Myers' depiction of heaven was incredibly comforting to read and imagine. I am so glad to know he is continuing the series with a new book. It will be an all-nighter, I am sure!

Bill Myers is back in his supernatural element with Soul Tracker. His writing not only explores the "what-if's", but causes his reader to think about deeper spiritual truths. David Kauffman is set up to believe he is communicating with his daughter, Emily, who supposedly committed suicide. His quest is to discover what really happened and where she is -- heaven or hell. Through a virtual reality program, David is able to communicate with Emily and visit heaven and hell. But is any of this real? With his masterminded creativity, Bill Myers is able to depict a very vivid heaven, and equally realistic hell. What are the consequences of our passions and the choices they prompt us to make? And just as David is willing to probe the horrors of hell and even death for his child, to what extent will our Heavenly Father go to reveal Himself to His seeking children? Don't miss the first of what I pray will be many in a Soul Tracker series. You will come away touched and very likely changed.

I'm a big fan of Bill Myers books, and I think SOUL TRACKER is one of his best. I have to disagree with the person who wrote that Myers couldn't decide whether you could contact the dead. The book clearly shows that no one can contact the dead until they die themselves. This book was a fast-paced page turner about an unbelieving man grieving over the apparent suicide of his daughter. In trying to understand where his daughter is, he falls prey to a devious plot by people who have developed technology to simulate the death experience. I was especially moved by Myers' portrayals of heaven and hell, and his explanation of the fact that God doesn't send people to hell--they choose it, and God honors their decision. The story illustrates our choices and their eternal consequences--good and bad--all within a great novel that you'll want to share with others.

Not a great read. The author just couldn't seem to make up his mind about whether or not someone can visit the dead. He just seemed to go from one extreme to the other. I almost felt like I was reading two books. Not one of his best.

Author/Artist Review

Author: Bill Myers

Tell us a little about yourself.  I'm really driven to teach and encourage others into a deeper walk. It can be kids' stories (McGee and Me, The Incredible Worlds of Wally McDoogle, etc) or adult stories (Fire of Heaven Trilogy, Eli, The Face of God). I always try to be entertaining and keep you turning the pages, but the bottom line is to reach in and minister to the reader's soul wherever he or she may be with the Lord.

What was your motivation behind this project?  My motivation is always the same . . . to draw the reader closer to the heart of Christ. If they are still a seeker, I would hope to bring them closer to making a decision for Christ. If they are a believer, I would hope to draw them deeper into Him.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I always try to write at different levels so readers may be ministered to at various levels. First, of course, I wanted to make crystal clear that, despite the counterfeits that try to seduce us, the Bible clearly states we can not communicate with the dead. Second, I wanted to address the reality of heaven and hell and, of course, how our belief in Jesus Christ determines our destination. I also wanted to touch on the dangers of other beliefs such as reincarnation. Then, legalism --how we may be absolutely right, but without the love of Christ, absolutely wrong. And, finally, I wanted to explore a little of the overwhelming love and power of Jesus Christ, Himself.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  My favorite author is John, the disciple. That may sound weird, but I love that he is so simple that a first year Greek student can read and understand him and yet so profound and multi- layered that we can read his writings over and over and always be ministered to more deeply.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  If you have any questions feel free to write me at www.Billmyers.com. Sometimes it takes forever, but I try to answer all my e-mail. Thanks!
