Tell us a little about yourself. Chancellor/CEO elect of Reformed Theological Seminary, and the James M. Baird Jr. Professor of Pastoral Theology.
What was your motivation behind this project? To help people see the glory of the Gospel which causes all things, even the bad things, to work together for the good of those who love the Lord. The Gospel motif of the cross is the ruling pattern of God's redemption that leads to ultimate victory in Christ.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? A perspective on the Gospel that will trust God in the dark places of life, which we all experience.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I had to personally come face to face with the dark night of the soul seasons in my life, and trust in Christ when I don't have answers.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I appreciate Augustine, the English Anglican Reformers, the Seventeenth Century Puritans, the American Puritans, and my favorite preachers include the Scottish Presbyterian, James Stewart.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: This book goes out with a prayer that Christ may be exalted in the lives of His people and that we call come to see that the very things which seek to destroy us become the very thing, in the hand of a loving and sovereign God, that leads to our salvation.
