I have read several books set in Amish communities, this one was something different. The community is set out like a communist country and as I figured out some time into the book back in history, not present day.
Interesting story, good characters (most of them anyway) flawed people but I guess realistic enough.
I found this story about the Amana community interesting and very well written. Berta is a most interesting character and does a good job of keeping the reader entertained. The story is very true to life and deals with family secrets and the importance of being truthful in all circumstances. I highly recommend this book.
