Well, here's the thing. We read this line very carefully, the one that said the private questions were in Italics. I think you all have it backwards, because the normal questions about the versus were in italics & the real personal questions were in standard print. We're enjoying the book anyhow. We had our study last night & it was enlightening for some of us, revealing for others & overall interesting to all. It was funny however, that when we were reading Saturday out loud the guy at Starbucks decided to play Barry White over the outside speakers. We could hardly finish reading we were laughing so hard. So thank you for an interesting bible study, we are enjoying it.
Were going through this study on the Song of Solomon in our Womans group and they are loving it! I keep on hearing comments like, I needed this class 55 years ago. And, Our young people need to hear this. This study contains a frank discussion on sex-done-right from Gods perspective, that will not only challenge marriages, but also unlock some mysteries in the Song of Solomon that may have been previously perplexing to us. I took a masters-level class on the Song of Solomon and this study still gave me insights I have not heard before. A great resource.
Solomon Latte is definitely not your grandmother's devotional book! Glahn approaches unpacking the book as a genre of poetry. Coupling her understanding of poetic styles of the day and her expertise in the field of sexual intimacy in marriage, Solomon Latte is packed full of insight. An added plus- specific questions designed for private reflection, and more general questions intended for group discussion. I did this study with a group of 18 women and Glahn's questions always gave us plenty to talk about while never once making us feel as though we'd crossed the line of appropriateness. Sex is a topic not many are comfortable discussing in church, and Solomon Latte is a much needed breath of fresh air!
Again in Solomon Latte, Sandra Glahn has taken a portion of scripture and compiled a six-week study that will enrich, encourage, challenge, and comfort the Bible student's life. Glahn's insight into history, customs, language, and culture helped me to read through Song of Songs with an understanding like never before. I highly recommend all four of the Coffee Cup Bible Studies and am looking forward to seeing what comes next!
