Bring sanity and hope back into your relationships, your dreams—and your closet—with the revelation of what men really want. But it's more than you thought—more intriguing, more exciting, more attractive . . . and so much more than sexy.
Mark Atteberry is the preaching minister at Poinciana Christian Church in Kissimmee, Florida. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Marilyn. They have one daughter, Michelle, and one granddaughter, Alyssa. Mark is the author of six books (including Free Refill, 2007) , and his work has been featured in major magazines such as Outreach, New Man, and Christian Standard.
So Much More Than Sexy by Mark Atteberry, is not to be dismissed as simply another modesty book: I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God, (1 Timothy 2:9, 10). Girls and women in the church have undoubtedly heard this verse many times in countless seminars, sermons, and Bible studies in regards to modesty. Instead of addressing the typical modesty issues, such as shorts being this long and necklines being this high, Atteberry delves into the basis of the problem. Instead of asking what length the skirt should be, Atteberry asks why a woman chooses the length she does. The questions tackled in the book motivate long-lasting change, because they dive to the root of the problem instead of just removing the fruits of the problem.
After journeying through motivations behind wardrobes, Atteberry treks deeper into what truly makes a female sexy. Cultivating intelligence, promoting peace, and realizing which attributes are radioactive to men (all topics not usually associated with a book on modesty) are essential factors that Atteberry discusses. He also provides a background for the verses of 1 Timothy 2:9-10 which is extremely informative and helpful in a deeper understanding of these verses.
Atteberrys wit, honesty, passion, and, most importantly, his male point-of-view make this book one of the most heart-shaping modesty books available to women of all ages, single or married. I recommend this book to any woman fourteen years of age and older (parents of daughters younger than fourteen should read beforehand). Questions at the end of each chapter allow the reader to relate the chapter to her own life more intimately. Emily Morgan, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
