This is the second book in the Rosey Corner series. Although it can be read as a standalone, I strongly suggest reading Angel Sister first.

As you move into Rosey Corner, a tiny town in Kentucky, set in 1941, you will begin to relax. As with the small town setting you really get to know the families that reside there.

Lorena is starting to grow up with her new family. Evie and Mike prepare to tie the knot while Kate is torn between being happy for her sister and feeling the loss over her crush on Mike.

All of the family drama is mixed with the stress surrounding everyone as the war is threatening to pull the Americans into it.

Jay Tanner comes back into Rosey Corner to stand as Mike's best man. Due to the struggles Jay has endured while growing up, he has turned into a drifter not wanting to put roots down to avoid more heartache and loss. The day of the wedding Jay received an offer for some work with Graham Lindell that would keep him there for a short while. Since Kate caught his eye, he decided to stay a few weeks to check things out.

This is a superbly written story that draws you in and holds your attention throughout. The well developed characters will make you feel as though you have known them for years. Rosey Corner is a place I would love to visit and maybe even stay a while.

I highly recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys historical fiction, especially the WWII era. The characters will capture your heart and the small town atmosphere will make you feel at home.

A little plodding, but otherwise OK for this kind of book. I have not read Angel Sister, so perhaps did not appreciate all that had gone before. I like to read, and especially historical or history based novels in addition to straight history, so this was OK, though I would not go out of my way to read another by this author. I have lent this book to a friend in a nursing home, and she seemed to enjoy it.

Since I love historical novels and add that to it being a series and I'm in reader's heaven. This 2nd book after Angel Sister was a real winner. The characters are so real. I just savor the closeness in the book of family and friends.

I enjoyed the book but thought the story moved a little slow.
