Sourcebook units have two parts: Build skills and word experiences and Assess words and skills. The former focuses on how all words work through learning about how words are correctly used. In the latter, students receive specific spelling words which are identified through whole-class story and dictation tests, where the words they miss become their spelling words. Sixth-grade words in these tests include exactly, discover, course, water, among, purposely, obviously, and more.
