Publisher's Description

An easier-to-read version of Edwards' classic sermon. Delivered 250 years ago, this is the most famous sermon ever preached in the history of America. Far more than a depiction of the punishments of hell, it is a call to personal salvation through Christ and spiritual revival in our time.

Author Bio

Jonathan Edwards (17031758) served the Northampton Congregational Church in Massachusetts for twenty-three years, then missionary outpost to the Mohawk and Mohican tribes. In 1758, he became president of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University), only to die a few months later due to an adverse reaction to a vaccination.

Editorial Reviews

Perhaps no sermon is better known, more often read in American literature, and less understood for its depth and profound insight than ‘Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.’ ....John Fanella’s excellent edition may well help many to better understand the importance and value of this most excellent sermon. I recommend this work wholeheartedly!
. . . a job well done. The impact and force of this sermon comes across with clarity and without losing its original strength and intensity.
. . . faithful in every regard to the original . . . Here the contemporary reader can easily see why people in Edwards’s original audience were fainting and crying out for mercy. I know of no more powerful exposition of God’s anger against sin than this landmark sermon by the most profound Christian mind America has ever seen.
Fanella’s update brings out the full force of Edwards’s awesome reasoning.
If awakening comes as people recognize their helpless condition before a holy God and turn to Christ alone, they will find nothing more convicting and humbling than this masterpiece from the last Puritan.” Thanks to John Fannella for making this available to a wider audience.

Excellent!! As far as this version, it was very easy to read. Some puritan books you must read through slowly, this one you can read just like any other book. The foreword by John MacArthur was an excellent introduction and the Post-script by the publisher clearly laid out how you can flee from the wrath to come. Very glad i came upon this version.
