Just sitting beside someone in pain, listening to a suffering friend, or opening your heart to hear God's voice makes a positive difference--even an eternal difference. Steve Vanzant knows the power of being in the right place at the right time. As a pastor and fire department chaplain, he has helped many people through both spiritual and physical crisis. In The Significance of One you'll hear many of Vanzant's stories and be encouraged to make a difference wherever God places you.

Tell us a little about yourself.   Pastor Steve's life ministry deals with bringing hope and restoration to the hurting and down trodden, both inside and outside of the church. His message of God's grace and love is backed by a powerful testimony of addiction from his past and his message of healing and hope of things to come is evidenced by the scars of his present. The tragic death of his daughter has enabled him to better fulfill his role as fire chaplain and has given him a greater grasp of our eternal destiny. He and his wife Gaye have been residing as pastor and co-pastor over CCOFW since 1992. Driven by a heart to please God, Pastor Steve and his wife serve their community faithfully and show love and grace to all people. CCOFW is located in Haltom City, in an urban area just northeast of Fort Worth, Texas. Steve Vanzant has served as the Fire Chaplain of Haltom City, Texas since 2001. The office of the Fire Chaplain is in oversight of the spiritual and emotional health of the fire department. The Fire Chaplain is the Team Coordinator of the Critical Response Team, a trained group of firefighters who deal with all departmental Critical Incident Stress Management concerns and is available to outside agencies in need of CISM debriefing. The Fire Chaplain is available to all firefighters and their families when called on to help deal with individual and corporate family needs.

What was your motivation behind this project?  To put on paper what I believe to be priority in our Christian walk, to love and serve people, one person at a time.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  The understanding of their value before God and the importance of being available to those who are hurting. To grasp that significance is not about reaching the masses but touching the lives of those in our everyday lives.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  It deeply affected my understanding and walk with Jesus.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Not to sound trite, but the life of Jesus is most influential to me. Judson Cornwall was very influential in my life. He was my spiritual "dad" and mentor. My family inspires me to be all that Jesus desires.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  You can read the first chapter of the book at
