Product Description

Sidewalk - The "sidewalk" is about the hustle and bustle of everyday life that we overlook or just plain forget that God is trying to speak to us. The sidewalk symbolizes that we are common people! Prophet - Dictionary definition: "someone who speaks the truth about life". Sidewalk Prophets means that we are common people speaking the truth about life as lovers and followers of Christ.

At its simplest form, the theme of this record centers on the hope that Christ's love provides. The music definitely proclaims the Bible verse, "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love" (I Corinthians 13:13).

"Sidewalk Prophets has a vision to help people young and old embrace the uniqueness God has given them. The more we look at a lot of today's problems the more we see that a lot of times people are fearful of being themselves so they follow what the world tells them they should do. We believe that finding your identity in Christ is one of the most crucial steps in truly loving others. Once people start realizing this and living confidently in this we believe there will be a visible change in our households, our communities and ultimately our world."

The debut release from this Nashville-based quartet balances music ministry with finely crafted, worshipful pop rock sounds. These Simple Truths includes the smash hit single "The Words I Would Say."

I got this CD for a friend and had never heard of the band before but after taking a listen I want to get more from them. Really good sound and really good songs. Like the fact that most CD's i own dont have the worship sound to them that these guys have.

So the Sidewalk Prophets have been a friend of mine for ages now. Their newest CD, These Simple Truths, is a masterpiece full of great lyrics and delicious melodies. Their hit song, "The Words I Would Say" is a perfect reminder for us all to write that certain letter to a certain someone we care about to tell them about love. I've been a fan for so long, here is video of their newest song (the film is now licensed by WORD)

If you enjoy bands such as Casting Crowns and MercyMe and artists such as Jeremy Camp, you'll love Sidewalk Prophets' similar brand of Contemporary Christian pop/worship music on their debut album, These Simple Truths. With songs that are encouraging and uplifting, this radio-friendly fare is the best I've heard in this increasingly popular genre. The album title sums up the many thematic threads from this album - simple truths, from Scripture and from everyday life experience, that sometimes we need to take a moment to stop and think about. It's easy to enjoy a song and sing along because the melody is catchy but so often we need to think about what the words of the song are really saying. Highlights include "Show Me How To Love," a powerful call for right relationships, and "The Words I Would Say," a strong song of encouragement, but the "realness" of the questions posed in "You Can Have Me" especially demonstrate the thought put into the lyrics on this album. Musically, Sidewalk Prophets' debut is immediately catchy, with melodies you'll be humming an hour after you heard a song. The first track "Just Might Change Your Life" opens with an acoustic guitar but the song quickly shifts gears with a driving electric that's interspersed throughout the song, carrying the song's fervor. The third track "You Can Have Me" is the best of this album's piano-led tracks, and takes its time to build fully with passionate, convicted vocals appropriate to the lyrics. The fifth track "Moving All The While" is a modern hymn that doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the songs (especially right in the middle of the album), with verses that feel slightly rushed by comparison once you get into the moderately long "Hallelujah"s of the chorus, though I absolutely love the final conclusion to each chorus, "You were moving all the while." All things considered, These Simple Truths is truly a well-crafted and accomplished effort for a debut, and well worth the listen.
