Welcome to Paradise.
Epic battles of good and evil are happening all around us.
Today that battle comes to town with the sound of lone footsteps clacking down the blacktop on a hot, lazy summer afternoon. The black-cloaked man arrives in the sleepy town of Paradise and manages to become the talk of the town within the hour. Bearing the power to grant any unfulfilled dream, he is irresistible.
Seems like bliss . . . but is it?
Or is hell about to break loose in Paradise?

danielleIdaho5 Stars Out Of 5Really good, epic book!June 23, 2012danielleIdahoQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I loved this book!!! When I first started reading it, I didn't know what to expect so I was a bit surprised with the plot...it was gory at times, and the way that the worm slime affected people was disturbing. Nevertheless, the allegory, based on Jesus's pain when he endured the cross for us, was fantastic and you don't even see it coming until it's already there! So overall, a great read that keeps you on the edge of your seat...you don't wanna miss out on this book. Another amazing good vs. evil story!!!!

Showdown gives a wonderful picture of Christ's sacrifice and the reality of our free will! It is gory in places but in spite of the "worm gel" (which created such a vivid, disgusting picture) you want to keep reading! I absolutely loved the allegory....it was so bizarre and yet so easily understood. A late night page turner!
Robby Hall Jr.5 Stars Out Of 5August 24, 2010Robby Hall Jr.WOW! Say it backwards. WOW! I couldn't believe how great this book is. Showdown gives a FANTASTIC allegory of Christ and His great sacrifice and victory. You never know what in Heaven and Earth is going to happen next and nothing makes sense until the very end. Absolutely incredible! Bravo, Ted Dekker!
Andrea2 Stars Out Of 5November 30, 2009AndreaI am a huge Dekker fan, but not a big fan of this one. I found it somewhat disturbing and a little odd. Meaning, a little humor thrown in which I thought was out of place. And other things mentioned that I just thought was disjointed and strange. I just wasn't engrossed in this one like I usually am with Ted's books.
