Author Bio

Recognized internationally for his work in Christianity and culture, Francis A. Schaeffer authored more than twenty books, which have been translated into a score of languages and sold millions worldwide. He and his wife, Edith, founded L'Abri Fellowship international study and discipleship centers. Schaeffer passed away in 1984, but his influence and legacy continue worldwide.

Dated by still valid Due to the years since publication, some of the comments are a bit dated. However, the overall overview of Western culture and the effects of Christianity are still valid, though somewhat frightening. August 27, 2012

Absolutely profound. Dr. Schaeffer's synthesis of the history of western thought and culture is clear, concise and offers answers to the questions every Christian needs to be asking about the world and the culture we live in. Understanding the steps that lead to where we are today allows us to understand our current situations and what to expect as well as how to go about changing the world we live in. Schaeffer's predictions back in the 1960's about where the world was headed are frighteningly prophetic of our current spiritual and political predicament in America and Western Europe. May 23, 2011
