Join the sassy ladies of Fergus, Idaho, as they protect their town in this quirky historical by award-winning author Susan Page Davis. A crime spree has divided the men in town, so Gert Dooley forms the Ladies’ Shooting Club to protect their businesses, homes, and families. But when one of their members is murdered, will these feisty gals have what it takes to find the killer before he strikes again? Will the new sheriff put the club out of work, or will he surrender his heart to one crack shot lady?
Susan Page Davis is the author of more than forty novels, in the romance, mystery, suspense, and historical romance genres. A Maine native, she now lives in western Kentucky with her husband, Jim, a retired news editor. They are the parents of six, and the grandparents of nine fantastic kids. She is a past winner of the Carol Award, the Will Rogers Medallion for Western Fiction, and the Inspirational Readers Choice Award. Susan was named Favorite Author of the Year in the 18th Annual Heartsong Awards. Visit her website at: www.susanpagedavis.com.
This book has an underlining romantic theme, which adds to the story. Levi, in the form of Ethan Moses, has to find his soul mate after he has already lost her once. When he figures out who his soul mate is, the moment is unforgettable and all romantics are bound to love it.
The most monumental experience in the book comes in the last chapter. This is because everything the work, the sacrifices, the planning, the praying, each success, each failure finally makes sense. The writing and plotting are outstanding here. The author describes Jesus' eyes, saying they are a blue that no one has ever seen before and they are like two worlds spinning. Also, in this chapter Jesus talks to "E," and what he says to him is peaceful and heartfelt. This book has a very satisfying ending and doesn't leave the reader with unanswered questions.
This book is for adults who want to read an interesting and inspirational story about an angel who helps God do his will in an odd but interesting way. Terry Goetz does a great job of describing all the events that happen, and he makes the reader feel as though he or she is experiencing the events personally. The new sheriff, Ethan works with Gertrude (the head of the Ladies' Shooting Club) to find out who the culprit is and why so many prominent people in town are being targeted in the crime spree. A little romance is developed along the way, but you need to read the next book (about Gertrude's brother Hiriam) to find out more of what happens with Ethan & Gertrude.
