Ignore the reviews that despise this book because of the spanking section. There is soooo much good Biblical wisdom in this read, on so many different levels. If you pass, you will miss one of the best perspectives on Christian parenting on the shelves.

This book is not a good one. God is a God of GRACE.
If Jesus visited your home for the day and your child was *misbehaving* do you think Jesus would spank him?

Excellent book for raising godly children, there are lots of examples and it really made my husband and I see the mistakes we were making in rearing our children. It has definitely help us grow as parents and analyze our motives and goals.

Love this book...I like the "out of the box" way to look at things...I wish I had read this when my kids were just born and implemented the ideas long ago...

If you are looking for the easy way out- buy this book! It is easy to spank for every offense and yes that does yield a broken spirit-thus the child obeys. So if you want to look good to others like you have your kids in line then this is the book for you. But if you are willing to be embarrassed some days and put the effort it takes to correctly make things a learning moment because you only care about your child's heart and their relationship with Jesus- then decline!

This is the book every Christian parent needs for parenting their kids. It was suggested to me by several different people and I will definitely suggest it to any one having discipline problems with their kids.

Great, practical, Biblical ideas, principles, and advice. Some may not like the author's wording, but the theme is Scriptural and encouraging. I strongly recommend this book to any and every parent at any stage of child rearing.

I am a first time parent due with baby number one in January 2009. It was disappointing to find that most "Christian" parenting books were so secular, though when I got this book as a gift I was pleasantly surprised at how Christ centered it is. Most books never get to the foundation of raising children, this book on the other hand really got to the heart of the matter and reiterated everything Christ has been showing and teaching me over the years, putting everything into words that I could not quite pinpoint.
