I'm surprised at the negative reviews. It's hard to see an item we love so much dogged so badly. Yes, the videos are silly and wacky, but they are also clever, original, and scripturally encouraging. Kids love them. Good for ages 5-12ish, and maybe over, I'd say. As Mom, I thought they were funny, too. I found scripture to be treated respectfully and with importance. It's just in a goofy format. I know some people dislike Veggie Tales for the same reason, but we love those, too. This set is a great value. It is 1000 times better than so much of the trash on TV, and kids like to watch it. It makes mine laugh out loud!
I am glad I watched the trailer of these videos. I would not purchase these. Too many ridiculous, stupid scenes just to show a Bible truth. There's got to be a better more appropriate way to teach good character, values and Bible truths.
After receiving this set as a gift, I previewed them before showing them to our children`s class at church. Was I ever glad I did! They are `based`on stories from the Bible, however, I found them to be quite irreverent in the `delivery`!
We showed Sheep Snacks for our monthly "Movie Sunday" for our Sunday School K-12 classes. It is a time for all grades and teachers to come together and bond over movies and popcorn. The variety of clips was perfect for all ages. Some were funnier than others. Everyone had their favorites. Sometimes the teachers were laughing harder than the children. It is a good inter-generational, bible based tool.
Since the "What's In The Bible" and "Auto-B-Good" video series are so well received by our church family, I was excited to find another Biblical series to offer in our church library. Reviews from two of our men youth leaders resulted in tossing this series. Our youth club commander said "The content of the material was right on the edge of being crude. I was disappointed in the results and would not recommend this for any children." A follow-up review from our Youth Pastor- "I wasn't impressed by these videos at all. I agree with the Awana commander's assesment. There were some borderline inappropriate things and I don't think I would let my kids watch these."
