Another great novel by Dani Pettrey. The excitement is nonstop as well as the suspense. Even though the characters are fictional, the family bond is real. One may stray but the love remains. A family of faith and trust, leaving no stone unturned in their quest to prove the innocent of a sibling. Facing dangerous situations, yet determined to find who's responsible. Surviving when survival seemed impossible. As new characters were introduced, it was hard to predict the outcome of the investigation. Karli's reputation and lifestyle really complicated matters. As the investigation progressed, the hunt for suspects definitely exposed the unexpected. Many twist and turns resulted in true love and prayers answered. This book was truly enjoyable and also difficult to determine at what point the murder would be resolved. Thanks Bethany House Publishing for allowing me to review this book at no charge.
I loved book one of the Alaskan Courage series and could not wait till number two came out. It was well worth the wait!!. Fantastic read. This book was one I could not put down (not many happen like that) and it was one book I did not want to end.
Piper McKenna's brother shows up at her house with blood covering him. A woman has been murdered and her brother Reef is the main suspect. Her brother has been gone and now with his return, he is charged with murder. Piper is determined to find the killer and protect Reef. Enter-Landon Grainger who loves the McKenna family and is falling in love with Piper throughout the investigation. Lots of different story lines with each of the McKenna's which kept the book so interesting. That is just a snippet of what the story is about. There are so much twists and turns and you think you have it figured out-then something else changes. Dani Pettrey has weaved a masterful storyline full of interesting characters, family squabbles, great suspense, romance and a wonderful blend of Christian forgiveness and thoughts by Piper. Cannot wait for number 3-it will be another winner.
Thank you to Bethany House for this free copy for my honest opinion.
This is the first book I have read in this series. While it talks about and hints at things from the previous book (maybe) I love that I didn't HAVE to read #1 before reading #2. Dani is a great author. She comes up with good scenes right after another. Which of coarse keeps me interested and reading on to see what happens next!!! There are twists I saw coming before they where revealed, but some just before. So I didn't feel like I was way a head of the characters unlike some books where you can figure out who did it within the first 10 or so pages. I think what really made me enjoy this book is the fact that while I had a bit of the mystery figured out Dani sill throws in action scenes that I wasn't fully expecting. This book made me REALLY want to read the one before it and anything else Dani Pettrey can come up with. I recommend this book especially if you are in the mood for mystery and action, snow and sand, and of coarse love and loyalty! :)
The songs are ones plucked from the pages: "Wipe Out" by The Surfaris, "Back in Black" by The Rock Heroes, "Top Gun Anthem (Album Version" by Harold Faltermeyer;Steve Stevens, "Take Me In" by Kutless, "Snowfall (1990 Digital Remaster)" by Jackie Gleason.
I thought book 1, Submerged, was excellent for an author's first book. This one was so much better. It can be a stand alone book but reading book one helped as I was familiar with the characters. This book started out with a bang and never let up. The author is a good writer and the story flows well. The characters are indepth and well developed. I felt a part of the book and I loved that. I honestly didn't want to put the book down even for a few minutes. I loved her human characters that are flawed and struggling at times just like we do. I loved Landen and his journey to giving his life to Christ. The suspense was great as I didn't even know who the killer was until it was revealed. This is a great entertaining read with mystery, suspense, romance and giving our lives to God and allowing him to lead us and have faith. I have definitely found another favorite author.
