The Sharif Bible sold by CBD is a marvelous work for the price. Using it, I am greatly encouraged to continue the improvement of my rather inadequate command of Arabic, by knowing that the text is not only clear and legible, but fully "vowel pointed".

As for the content, it is indeed a pleasure to realize that a linguistically proficient scholar has finally taken the "bit in his teeth" to endeavor to produce a work that is to a significant extent void of unnecessary "religious" bias. Who can say-- perhaps this shall in the end prove to be a boon to bolstering a greater spiritual and fraternal affinity between Muslims and Christians, a notion that is not exactly absent in the passages of is work. Neither is the hope of an eventual well-annotated and cross-referenced Arabic study Bible, say, in the tradition of Scofield, to be offhandedly disdained, given the zeal of the Arab faithful for truth. God is surely great!

My husband says this has really helped him to better understand the Bible. Sometimes I read in English using the NIV and he can follow along without any problems or vice versa with him translating the Arabic into English. I thank God you guys carried it, a priceless gift for such a small price.

Overall, this is an excellent translation--my favorite Arabic translation. I am a bit disappointed with certain Old Testament translations of "Israel" where it is changed to "the people of God." I don't feel such political problems of the 20th century should affect the timeless word. Other than that, I'm very pleased and use it regularly both for personal devotional study as well as in relating to Muslims.
