I am most pleased with not only the quality of the product/books I bought, but also with the ease of ordering it and simplicity of finding it in the first place when I went to the website. I was also impressed with how quickly my order was processed and my receipt of the books. I was in a real time crunch considering my children needed them for school the very next week and Christianbook.com lived totally up to their claims of great service. Once again Thank you very much.
I almost skipped this book because I already love Corrie ten Boom's book about the same period. If someone else is considering skipping this book, I would like to encourage you that they give different perspectives.Where Corrie's story tells how the Holocaust crept into the lives of Christians, Anita's story tells how the Holocaust crept into the lives of Jews (in particular, a Christian Jewish mother). Reading both books created a fuller understanding of "how this could happen" from both sides. It was worthwhile considering who we would be if it were to slowly happen today, from those who felt it all would go away soon, to those who risked their lives taking a stand.
I was amazed at the strength such a young girl could possess and the new found faith she had in Christ. That faith carried her through very horrific circumstances with a love for her Jesus that was amazing. It was very humbling. I have now ordered Anita's complete biography and can not wait to review this as well.
This is an amazing book, and after I finished reading it, my mom did! It is a book I read in basically 1 day, and it is a sad story of how the Jews were persecuted, but at the same time, it's full of hope and life! Our Heavenly Father took care of Anita and her mom, even her friends and other family. It is so wonderful to hear all the miracles and see what God can really do for those who love Him.
Anita Dittman thought she was merely a young girl who loved teddy bears and ballerina shoes, but she knew differently when her father walked out and Hitler's Holocaust strode in. I have been captivated by Wendy Lawton's Daughter of the Faith Series, but this time I couldn't put Shadow of HIs Hand down until I finished. I ached for this fragile girl who lived under the shadow of Hitler but survived under the greater hand of God.I highly recommend this for young and older readers alike who are seeking examples of moral courage.
