Author Bio

Diane Moczar, Ph.D., serves as an adjunct professor of history at Northern Virginia Community College. Her articles have appeared in various publications such as Triumph, Smithsonian, Catholic Digest, and National Review. She is the author of Islam at the Gates, about Europe's wars with Ottoman Turks, Ten Dates Every Catholic Should Know, and Seven Lies About Catholic History. She earned a bachelor\'s degree in philosophy and history at the Francisco College for Women, as well as a master's degree at Columbia University. Dr. Moczar also completed her doctoral work at the Catholic University and George Mason University.

    This surprisingly small book is too selective in its use of material to be a history in the traditional sense. It sets up seven views, or lies, about Catholicism in order to shoot them down, although it seems consistently to fail in this. Aimed at the teenage market, its stated objective is to allow Catholics to win debates with non-Catholics on Catholic history. This book is not really intended for readers who want to know more about the non-Catholic understanding of the Church, but a reader with strongly held beliefs will find much to like in it.

Whether it's the Galileo incident, the utter corruption of the Church at the time of the Reformation, the Church's incompatibility with science, you'll find the facts that undercut the legends in this fast-paced easy read by Diane Moczar. You'll want to own several to pass around.
