Theyve helped orchestrate the perfect day for countless couples. Now twelve new couples will find themselves in the wedding spotlight in the second Year of Weddings novella collection.
Meadow knows how to serve delicious food to match any wedding theme. But can she accept love when it's served up on a silver platter?
During one of the biggest weeks of her catering career, Meadow Larsons kitchen roof caves in after an unrelenting blizzard. She has to accept help from the last person on earth she wants to see: Colin McGrath. The tormentor from her past is now a contractor, her new neighborand the only person available to take on a project of this size.
Colin is aware God has given him a second chance to make things right with Meadow after bullying her in high school. After years of regret and guilt, Colin is determined to earn her respect and forgiveness, no matter what it takes.
Itll take an extreme kitchen renovation, several cooking lessons, a little lace, and a lot of grace, but God is using this renovation project not only to restore Meadows heart, but also to restore Colins integrity in her eyes. Will Meadow learn to trust the new Colin even as their relationship grows from a business exchange to something more meaningful?

IolaNew ZealandAge: 45-54Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Not meMay 1, 2015IolaNew ZealandAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 2Meets Expectations: 2When wedding caterer Meadow Larson's kitchen roof collapses, her high school nemesis comes to the rescue, offering his barn as a temporary kitchen. While Colin McGrath never led the bullies in the popular crowd who made her high school years a misery, he never called them on their behaviour either. Now he says he's changed. Can she believe him?
Yes, I can see that a person can change after high school. I can see that they might regret some of their teenage decisions and behaviour (who doesn't?). But I never got an impression of how Colin had changed, which meant I didn't get that he had changed. I only saw the almost-perfect Christian contractor he now is.
I also didn't really get Meadow. If she hated high school and everyone in town bullied her, why did she stay? Here's the other thing I didn't get. She appears to be operating a commercial catering business out of her house, and when her kitchen is destroyed, she uses the home kitchen of her building contractor. Really? A bachelor who lives in a barn has a kitchen good enough to use for commercial catering? And it doesn't have to be certified as meeting local hygiene standards?
Okay, these might be minor issues, and it seems most people are loving this novella. But it didn't work for me. The writing was good, and I thought the Christian aspects were excellent. But I didn't get the characters, and I thought the plot was too complex to adequately cover in such a short word count. Overall, average.

i blog 4 books3 Stars Out Of 5Quick readApril 5, 2015i blog 4 booksQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0As I've come to expect from this series, Serving Up a Sweetheart is a quick read. The story is cute, and I enjoyed reading about characters who reconnected after many yearsand a painful past. It was also cute to see them bond over Meadow's catering business.
This story wasn't a total homerun for me, though. I had a few hangups with how the plot played out, and it got a bit "preachy" at times. And while I understood where Meadow was coming from on her past hurts, she drove me crazy with her wishy-washy attitude.
Overall, though, the story was sweet and I enjoyed this quick read. If you enjoy contemporary romance, you should check this one out. [3 stars]

Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Sweet and Enjoyable StoryApril 5, 2015Britt98Grand Prairie, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Serving Up a Sweetheart was such an enjoyable story! This storyline works very well in novella form, since the two main characters know each other from the past. They now must get to know each other in the present and in this novella that proves to be the biggest challenge of all.
Meadow Larson carries a lot of pain and many hurtful memories from high school. When she should have had friends and been storing up happy memories, she instead faced constant bullying by a popular girl and her friends. Meadow overcame a lot from her past and I really liked her character. I found her reactions and lack of trust to be very understandable.
The fact that Colin McGrath was a part of the group and dating the girl who made Meadows high school experience so hard is something that he has regretted for years. He is not the same man that he was as a boy. But, the problem is going to be convincing Meadow that a person can change as much as he has. I really liked Colin, as well. I appreciated that he recognized the way he had failed Meadow so many years ago and was determined to set things right. Their romance and attraction was sweet and the story flowed very nicely.
This novella is part of the A Year of Weddings 2 set of novellas and is a good addition to the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book from BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review.
Tings MomArkansasAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Valentine ReadFebruary 1, 2015Tings MomArkansasAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If you are looking for a sweet Valentine's read, look on further than this book right here. The third book in the Year of Weddings 2 series, this story will leave you smiling for days.
The stories of Meadow and Colin are both shaded in the past, but they have grown and seem to be ready to start over. Watching them work on forgiving themselves while they give their lives back to God is amazing. And the end result is perfect.
