DVD- students can learn spelling on their own with minimal teacher assistance, while still getting the benefits of this multi-sensory system. Each word in the series is pronounced, used in a contextual sentence, and then pronounced again. You won't have to think of our own sentences anymore or look them up! After the student attempts the spelling of each word, the word is displayed on the screen, with the word families, prefixes, suffixes, and consonant blends in contrasting colors for easy processing of the word family's pattern. Each lesson has a "Check List" that the teacher can use to review the student's work for the day.
The student response book is also included for students to write in their words. This consumable book contains columns labeled by day in tri-column format; students fill in one column per page each day to prevent peeking at past work. Each column contains 25 lines; each page gives a motivational quote at the bottom to keep kids inspired and learning. This book contains blank spaces only; no word lists are included.
This DVD-ROM may ONLY be used on the computer.
This kit includes:
- Sequential Spelling DVD-ROM, Level 1
- Sequential Spelling Student Response Book

Kristin C.Dallas, TXAge: 35-44Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Good, but could be betterDecember 9, 2013Kristin C.Dallas, TXAge: 35-44Gender: femaleWe have always liked Sequencial Spelling so we thought we'd give the DVD-ROM version a try for our older son, who likes to work independently. Basically, it does what the parent/teacher normally does...says the word, pauses for the student to write it, and then spells it out. The student follows along and checks their spelling, correcting when neccesary. But on this computer version, the student is able to TYPE their words onto the list on the screen, which is great. My biggest complaint is that the program does not save the typed work that the student did. It has to be erased each day in order to type new words in. I suppose you could print it off each day, but that's a bit of a hastle. It would be excellent if it saved all the work, and when desired, you could print it all out. We were looking forward to the typing option as we have a child with LD's and typing is more beneficial for him that writing. So, if you're fine with your student using the regular Student Response book, and feel your child will be totally honest with writing the word first (before it shows the correct spelling), then this program is nice. It frees up the parent/teacher and gives independance to the student. We also like that is plain and simple, no 'business' on the pages.
PillydoughmomAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5This product is wonderfulOctober 24, 2012PillydoughmomAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I have been homeschooling for 20 years and have used several spelling programs over the years. My youngest two children have struggled with spelling. This spelling program has helped tremendously. We've been using it for three months now and I see a great improvement in their spelling abilities. To me it's the best of both worlds...The DVD is set up on your computer and then you can click on the lesson number, have the words called out, write them, and then check them before you go on to the next word. With the sequential spelling, IN, PIN, SIN, SPIN, their eyes were opened up to spelling. I recommend this to anyone who has children that are struggling. Even adults could benefit from it.
