Seeing Jesus "Types & Shadows" in 4 books of Moses
Nancy Guthrie in her new book, âÂÂThe Lamb of Godâ Book Two in the Seeing Jesus in the Old Testament series published by Crossway explores Seeing Jesus in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
From the Back Cover: âÂÂFor if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me.â (John 5:46)
JesusâÂÂs declaration that Moses wrote of Him frames this study of four books of the PentateuchâÂÂExodus, Leviticus, Numbers and DeuteronomyâÂÂas we discover the many ways that Moses wrote about Christ. Seasoned Bible teacher Nancy Guthrie shows that the BibleâÂÂs story from beginning to end is the story of the LambâÂÂthe Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Over ten weeks of guided personal bible study, relevant teaching, and group discussion, you will see the person and work of Christ:
in the person of Moses as a great deliverer, mediator, and prophet;
in the manna, the water from the rock, and the bronze serpent on the pole;
and in the priesthood, tabernacle, and sacrificial system.
Gain a fresh perspective on the story of IsraelâÂÂs deliverance and journey, a broader understanding of Jesus as the fulfillment of Scripture, and much more, when you join with Nancy on this incredible journey to see Jesus in the Old Testament!
There are individuals that believe that Jesus appears for the first time as He is presented in the Gospels and Acts then straight on through Revelation. Nancy Guthrie has provided us a Bible study that shows us that Jesus is there from the very beginning and in this book works through the last four books of Moses, having done Genesis in her preceding book. For me this is an exciting study as I was always thrilled when my pastor taught on Jesus represented in âÂÂTypes and Shadowsâ in the Old Testament. Now Ms. Guthrie lays it all out before us in a ten week Bible study. Except for the first week, of course, each week has three sections: 1) Personal Bible Study â this is needed to fully grasp everything that will be taught to us and to get our minds focused on what God is trying to tell us. 2) Teaching Chapter â which details the instances of Jesus identified in that weeks chapters. Plus it ends with a âÂÂLooking Forwardâ section which provides insights into what is still to come when Jesus returns. 3) Discussion Guide which asks questions that will ask the questions that will help seal in what was learned. âÂÂThe Lamb of Godâ is not a book that should be rushed through, if you do you will miss all the flavor of these teachings. And if the study of this book should take twenty weeks instead of ten there is no harm in that, it is worth the effort. âÂÂThe Lamb Of Godâ also is not a book that will be read once and then put on the shelf. On the contrary it is a book that will be referred back to over and over again. I liked this book a lot and recommend it highly! I think you will enjoy it as well and give it as gifts to your friends and loved ones. They will enjoy it and always remember you every time they read it.
