LisaNCAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Inspiring!November 13, 2013LisaNCAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Secretariat, the impossible true story, very moving, inclusive of the love of horses and beyond_ The Scripture that was quoted, as the movie began and closed triumphantly declaring the awe and wonder of the Giver and His magnificent promises was perfect! Penny reliving her Daddy's words to her as a wee child, "It's not whether they think we are winning, " as she walked the long hallway to see her Daddy after her mother's death...How many hearts have needed to hear such words? The Mother's Equine pin clasped tightly in her Daddy's hand, loosed only as He presented it to their beloved daughter_"It's yours now_" The Father daughter bond shared in their love for horses, and his spoken words to his daughter in a heart-language that they understood and would grow to understand, "You run your race_"
Not so unlike, the unborn Secretariat who was to soon enter the world to "run his race" (unbelievably so, as one could only believe that he was heavenly empowered). We soon see that Penny was in a race that seemed equally, the impossible... Her strength--I loved how she reached out to her young son, in a moment of impending isolating difficulty, and asked if he would like to go with her to see the foal being born; what a delightful time for them to share in. And as her journey grew increasingly difficult, it was like she grew in the strength and composure that would help to propel her forward. Holding fast to her inborn passions and every glimmer of hope, we watched as Penny seemingly reached beyond the impossible_ We rejoiced with her in the moments of laughter (she couldn't remember having laughed with such freedom in a while)... I wonder, if in the joy of her new and previously knit relationships, right in the middle of the bittersweet of going forward, if she heard her Father's words, "you run your race," remembering his loving touch when he spoke those words to her many years before, again in the moments when she needed most to hear them_When challenges and condescending threats regarding her seemingly limited position and qualifications in this life (right up there with the financial risks), were surrounding her--did she find strength in those words of Fatherly empowerment? I found myself rooting for Penny to keep pushing forward, as much as for all who were with her in the promise of her own personal race and her belief in Secretariat's race_ The insurmountable odds, successes and victories celebrated with those whom otherwise, she would have never known, were beyond inspirational!
"O Happy Day, O Happy Day, when Jesus washed my sins away!" I loved this sudsy scene with the groomsman (Eddie) listening to this song and how Penny (in another difficult moment), walked over, picked up a sponge and joined in sudsing up Secretariat--it was as if new strength was being nurtured in the wonder of those moments_So many endearing life moments, serve to as reminders that we are all called to "Fix our eyes on the Author and finisher of our faith," we must all run the Victor's race_ It is as if Secretariat was Heaven sent, to remind us all, of the promised victory to come!" "The horse, he cannot stand still at the sound of the trumpet_" and neither shall we who have believed rightly; "Oh what a day of rejoicing that shall be!" A heart of gratitude is extended to Penny Chenery and her family for sharing their lives and their beloved horse, Secretariat. One does not have to be a "horse race fan" to cherish this movie_ The treasure of such a magnificent and powerful gift of God was indeed meant to be rejoiced in by all! To think that the Heavenly Father, is always desiring to speak such endearing words to each one of us, "You run your race" and "let him run his race_" And AJ's lovely voice, to match her lovely countenance_ It's who we are_ (surely, because we've been washed!) "O Happy Day_"

However, this is an excellent DVD with valuable lessons. A great story of courage, leadership, love, faith, etc. We need more movies like this to encourage and inspire everyone!
This movie is written well without violence or obscene language.
I am glad that Disney returned to their traditional style of movie that is clean and wholesome for the whole family.
Again, this is a GREAT movie for the entire family to watch together.
