Become immersed in a forbidden culture---that of Christians in lands where it is a capital crime to be so. The prose draws you into the story, the true story of these courageous men and women, who have forsaken friends, family, safety, and sometimes their own lives for the sake of Christ. The first, larger part of the book chronicles over a decade of drama, intrigue, revelations, and trials of these outlaw believers and the Christians who risk everything to be in a place to help them. Part two challenges readers to respond to the issues and truths covered in the first part, and gently leads concerned parties to proper attitudes towards Muslims and issues surrounding this highly volatile modern reality.

In his most incredible and eye-opening book to date, Brother Andrew invites you to meet:
• Ahmed, a young Muslim terrified by nightmares until he is introduced to Isa (Jesus)
• Mustafa, a former leader in a fundamentalist Muslim movement that persecuted Christians
• Salima, a privileged young Muslim woman who is held captive by her family when they find a Bible in her possession
• Abuna, a priest faced with an aging congregation and constant threats to his beloved church
• and many more.
Secret Believers not only gives readers a glimpse of the lives of these courageous believers, it also proposes four practical initiatives for Christians in the West to help these persecuted brothers and sisters. It calls us to join this new kind of jihad, leaving vengeance behind in favor of forgiveness, radical love, and unyielding prayer.
Al Janssen has co-written or authored more than twenty-five books, including Light Force. He is chairman of the board for Open Doors (USA) with Brother Andrew and is director of communications for Open Doors International. Janssen lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Marge HendersonTexasAge: Over 65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Wonderful bookDecember 27, 2011Marge HendersonTexasAge: Over 65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5This book gives great sight into the Muslim community and what it is life for a Muslim to become a follower of Christ. It reads like a novel since the true stories of various individuals are combined into a few individuals who become the characters in the book. The book concludes with challenges to Western Christians to reach out to Muslims for Christ. This book was given by a friend to a Muslim who had become a believer in Christ. The new believer then passed it aroundto others in their community.

Anybody who reads it will re-kindle their fire for the love and service of God . I hope that my faith is as unshaken and bold as that of the characters. Compelling and thrilling to read. Anyone that confesses that Jesus Christ is their Lord should read it.
richard r blakeBridgman, MIAge: Over 65Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5Stories of Muslims Who Choose to Follow ChristApril 7, 2011richard r blakeBridgman, MIAge: Over 65Gender: maleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4"Secret Believers: What Happens When Muslims Believe in Christ" is made up of dramatic stories of the lives of Muslims who turn to faith in Jesus Christ. It tells of the struggles and difficulties that they face when they become followers of Christ. Even though Christian Muslims receive opposition from their families, countries, and governments when they abandon the faith of Islam they often share their newfound Christian faith with other Muslims who are longing to know more about the message of Jesus.
The writing is Intensive and compelling. The multiple characters and difficult Muslim names sometimes become confusing making it hard to follow the plot as their stories appear throughout the narrative.
Part 2 of the book includes some thoughts on how as Christians we can respond to the stories. An appendix includes "A Letter from the Afghan Persecuted Church of Christ" written to then President George W. Bush to alert the Western world of the plight of the persecuted church in Afghanistan. I found the selected bibliography helpful.
"Secret Believers: What Happens When Muslims Believe in Christ" is a call to Christian believers to be reminded that we are in the midst of spiritual warfare and to recognize the need for committed prayer for our Christian brothers and sisters in Muslim countries, to intercede for the persecuted church, and to reach out in love to the individual Muslims in our personal world. This is important reading for every Christian.
Judy Snow5 Stars Out Of 5August 20, 2010Judy SnowI believe his book is excellent! It challenges me to pray for the Muslim world--that their eyes be open to the true Jesus. It also broke my heart for those who sacrifice everything to follow Him.
Heather Wojtczak5 Stars Out Of 5August 19, 2010Heather WojtczakA must read book for anyone seeking to gain better understanding of the challenges faced by followers of Christ in Muslim countries. I couldn't put the book down! The novel/biography portion was a page turner. The challenges given by Brother Andrew in the last part of the book are convicting in a hopeful way. They challenge Christians around the world to be more Christlike and give specific ways that we can make an impact for and with fellow Christ followers in countries under Islamic law.
