If you are wondering if the best of life has already passed you by, Second Calling will prepare you for the adventure of your lifetime. In it author Dale Hanson Bourke contends that midlife is a time for spiritual rebirth and urges women to find new passion and purpose by developing their spiritual life. She urges women to live in the present, leave the past behind, develop a prayer life, spend time with friends, and pass on their wisdom to younger women.
Women over 40 long to redefine the rest of their lives. Dale Hanson Bourke and the friends she interviewed--including General Claudia Kennedy, Kay Warren, Becky Pippert, journalist Peggy Wehmeyer and Jill Briscoe--resoundingly affirm that midlife can be a time of spiritual rebirth and a chance for God to get ones attention now that others demands on her life have diminished. Bourke offers essential principles that will help women to blaze new trails in their best years.

Reviewed by Gail (Hungary), August 30, 2006 While this book is well-written and interesting and offers some insights applicable to every woman, it is written mostly from the perspective of women who spent the first half of their lives in busy careers. As a woman who spent the first half of my life at home raising children and supporting my husband's work, I found little with which I could identify. In fact, this book seemed to highlight the fact that the focus/lives/transitions of career women are (for the most part) quite different from those of full time homemakers.
