Tell us a little about yourself. I worked fourteen years in the U.S. State Department's Foreign Service, mainly in the Middle East. My experiences serve as background for several of my stories.
What was your motivation behind this project? I was intrigued by the idea of a sudden marriage by two lonely people who had lost loved ones. How do they work out their relationship, especially when one of them is hiding a huge secret about his past life?
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? The enjoyment of following this couple as they grow, while overcoming past mistakes and meeting the challenges of life overseas.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As in all my novels, I discovered the characters as I wrote about them. I felt like they really existed. In fact, I may write a sequel or at least include Patrick and Hannah as secondary characters in another novel.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? Shadow of the Almighty, Elisabeth Elliot; The Gospel in a Pluralist Society, Lesslie Newbigin; The Clash of Civilizations, Samuel P. Huntington; Surprised by Joy, C.S Lewis; The Whimisical Christian, Dorothy Sayers. For starters.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I like to discuss ideas with my readers. They don't have to agree with what I write. I just like to bat ideas around.
