Publisher's Description

In this intriguing tale of heroism and high adventure, the story of young Daniel and his friends taken captive into ancient Babylon runs parallel to that of a Jewish-American family decades into the twenty-first century. With the help of Christian friends, the family flees the ever-increasing worldwide barrage pf anti-Semitism, relocating in their new homeland of Israel.

Although separated by thousands of years, these two stories are woven together, bridged by an all powerful, unchanging God as He carefully guides each one through many overwhelming dangers into their own unique place of divine destiny.

Author/Artist Review

Author: Jennie Hassett

Tell us a little about yourself.  Growing up in Southern California, I have for the past thirty years lived in Texas. Graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in chemistry in 1961, and worked in the medical field for forty years. I'm a grandmother with three children and five granddaughters living in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. I have a small art studio, enjoy playing piano and keyboard, gardening, writing, and most of all -- my grandchildren. Discovered writing a little late in life - I'm now retired - and have finished a second novel about Joseph, and started a third about Joshua and Rahab.

What was your motivation behind this project?  While watching Jeopardy a few years ago, an extremely intelligent and knowlegeable young lady was asked this question by Alex Trebek: "What did God give Moses?" She seemed stumped, then finally stammered out, "Wh-WHat is a ...boat??" Alex nearly lost it right there on the air; I nearly fell on the floor laughing, but suddenly realized that the poor girl had never even been exposed to anything remotely Biblical. That, and the fact that Daniel has always been one of the most fascinating people in the Bible (I named my son after him).

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  This is primarily the story of a young boy -- Daniel -- who is taken from his parents and homeland and placed into a completely pagan society. He and his friends resist the peer pressure to conform to their pagan surroundings and eventually are accorded the highest honors in the nation...and all because they refuse to compromise their integrity. It is so important for this new generation -- also in the midst of a pagan society -- to see how God rewards faithfulness ! I wrote this for all ages, but primarily for young people who want to stay the course and be strong, living lives of high adventure in Christ. --Jennie Hassett

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  The Bible is my greatest source, because these are true stories about real people just like ourselves, and there has been a vicious attack against the veracity of the scriptures; same old lie that was heard in Eden: ("Oh, come on now -- God didn't really say that....") Even the seminaries and many churches and denominations seem to have been invaded by this "liberal" aura of rank unbelief. However, the Word of God is truly alive and powerful, and I trust that my book will serve to pique the curiosity of perhaps thousands who have never before opened a Bible, to check for themselves and see if these things are actually true.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  Character counts. Remember the election slogan several years back, "It's the economy, stupid." Well, we're all a little older and wiser by now and having watched the embarrassing events play out during the previous presidency, I have to say once again: Character does count, and believe me -- it makes all the difference between a life of mediocrity or a godly life of high adventure!
