KaraAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Seagrass PierSeptember 2, 2014KaraAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Seagrass Pier, by Colleen Coble, is the third in the Hope Beach Novel series. It begins in Virginia Beach, Virginia. But like the first two books in the series, it is mainly set on Hope Island.
Elin Summerall has had a rough couple of years. Her husband passed away. She underwent a heart transplant. Her mother is developing dementia. And then Marc Everton appears at her door investigating an FBI case. As she is explaining to him that she has memories of the victims murder due to cell memory and is trying to convince him that the murderer is stalking her, her daughter comes outside to find her. Marc immediately knows he is the father of the child. When Elin moves to Hope Islands Seagrass Pier soon after, he follows her there both to investigate and to get to know his daughter. But Elin has a difficult time allowing him into Josies life, and Marc is determined not to lose any more time with her.
This was an incredible book. I had not heard of cell memory, so it was a refreshing change from the typical suspense novel. The thought of Elin remembering the murder and then needing to convince others that she was being stalked was a totally new idea. I also liked Marcs determination to be involved in his childs life once he was informed of her existence.
This was a terrific book, one I would recommend to anyone who enjoys Christian suspense novels.
I received this book free from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review.
Sherry KKansas4 Stars Out Of 5Great addition to the Hope Beach SeriesSeptember 1, 2014Sherry KKansasElin Summerall was able to receive a heart transplant but she's having a hard time dealing with what came with it. The woman she received the heart from was murdered and now Elin is having flashbacks of the murder and even some of the feelings, likes and dislikes of the donor. Cell memory is what they call it, but the police are having a hard time buying it and it's brought her a lot of unwanted attention, especially from the killer. Marc Everton is an off-duty FBI agent who is investigating the murder of his partner. It takes him to Hope Island and to Elin. Marc and Elin have a history together and he agrees to help protect her and her daughter. Messages from the killer let them know he's never far away. Can they figure out the mystery before it's too late?
Seagrass Pier is one that holds your attention all the way through. It's got, action, suspense, mystery and, of course, romance. The characters were great to get to know. I enjoyed meeting Elin and Marc. The secondary characters were great as well, especially Sara and Josh. You'll definitely find a faith thread running through the story but it was very natural and not over powering. I appreciated the author's note at the end where she reminds us how we grow and change but our "identity is in Christ who teaches us how to love others". There was one aspect of the story that didn't really have a conclusion. I won't say what it is, as it might be a spoiler. Perhaps it will be concluded in another Hope Beach story in the future. This was a great addition to the Hope Beach Series and although it's the third book in the series, you could very easily read it as a stand alone. If you're looking for a few hours of adventure, I recommend you dock your boat at Seagrass Pier.

debhgrtyPlymouth MAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5A murder, a mystery, and a man...magnificent!August 27, 2014debhgrtyPlymouth MAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I love/hated Seagrass Pier. I loved the story, but hated to see the story end. Heres hoping theres at least one more book in the Hope Beach series! I kept picking the book up, reading a bit, and putting the book down the suspense builds and keeps building youll love/hate it, too!
Elin Summerall works at an organ bank finding appropriate recipients for donated organs by the families of those whove died. She loves her work seeing life come from death and when she herself needs a heart transplant, is fortunate enough to have the perfect donor. Except Elin starts remembering remembering what the donor, Laura, has gone through and remembers. Elin has a difficult time convincing people that shes seen Lauras murder the only person who seems to believe her is her good friend, Sara.
Enter someone from Elins past the father of her child, Josie, the product of a one night stand on the eve of her fathers death. Mark Everton doesnt believe Elins story, but sees immediately that Josie must be his child the resemblance is uncanny. As determined as he is to find the murderer of his partner, Will, he is equally determined to be in Josies life.
Elin is being tormented or stalked or both by Lauras killer Marc agrees to help and the chase is on. The hows and whys of the chase/stalking/murders is the stuff of bad dreams. Youll either be up all night reading to find out the ending or putting it down and picking it up later as I did.
Coble never disappoints Ive read most of her books and find them all suspenseful and highly enjoyable. I interviewed Colleen at the International Christian Retail Show this past summer the second time Ive been privileged to talk with her. As in the previous interview, her husband, Dave, accompanied her. Colleen always researches what she writes and her stories always have a water setting. Her new series, Shadow Bay the first book will be Inn at Oceans Edge is set in Maine. She says she always has loved Maine. Claire comes to Folly Shoals to help her father land a major merger deal. As soon as she arrives, she has a panic attack and doesnt know why. Minutes later she discovers she went missing here when she was 4 and wasnt found for a year. No one knows where she was during that time. To get to the truth, she joins forces with Luke whose Mom went missing the same night Claire did. I cant wait for this one!!!
Colleen and Dave have a granddaughter they call Punkie, who is five years old, so this story is near and dear to her heart. Colleen and Dave have traveled quite a bit from Maine to Cambodia, Hawaii to Puerto Rico. They do spend winters in Arizona, though.
I asked Dave, not Colleen, to tell me something unusual that her fans wouldnt know. He said, I pick out her clothes! Colleen agreed telling me he always finds something she loves that she wouldnt have picked for herself although it took me a while to let him do it!
Youll enjoy her novels especially the Hope Beach series!
I received an advance reading copy of Seagrass Pier from Thomas Nelson for my unbiased review.
