I used the Old Scofield since 1972 and it has led me through some very rough times in my life. I had bought a navy bonded leather one back in 1972...my freshman year in college. I DID underline a lot of stuff over the yrs...just used pen. It did NOT bleed through until recent yrs. ( the new paper used is same as that old paper. I see NO difference in the thickness. ) I used that Bible until 2000. I just finally threw that old Bible away as it was extremely worn and the cover was finally coming loose after almost 45 yrs! No sense in keeping it since I am now a collector of study Bibles and have many of them. But I have purchased another of these... ( burgundy leather) from CBD -a few yrs ago. It is absolutely one of the most beautiful Bibles I have. I will not ever part with it until the day I die. Wonderful notes that will truly bless your soul and spirit, and help you to grow in your walk with God. An excellent concordance too. And the references cannot be improved upon, I don't think. They are perfect....and lead you through the Bible so nicely....Perfect Bible...small enough to handle comfortably too. Well worth every penney!
The Bible is as I had expected. My old copy was falling apart. Given to me in December of 1956, the pages were held together with packing tape and the cracked binding was reinforced with the same. The cover is crumbling at the edges due to constant wear. I intend to use this bible at church and on the street. I continue to use the old for personal study and devotions.
