Decisions, decisions! How is a girl supposed to choose? Lessons of right and wrong are put to the test in the Scenarios series, where you can test your decision-making abilities in an eye-opening, but safe, way. Each book follows a character up to the point where she has to make an important, life-changing decision—then it’s your turn to choose. Will your choices lead to a happy ending?
In the first story, Molly becomes a hotshot employee, working her way up to an assistant manager in training. Not bad for a highschool student. However, she has to choose between being a great employee and being well-liked by the popular girls.
In the second story, Kate is a great swimmer. She is so great that she could get a scholarship. Does she have what is takes to be the cream of the crop? She worries that she will fall short. Her teammates offer up a sure way to excel, but it is illegal.
What will these girls do? Both are normal teens. These situations are realistic. This is such a good book! I am going to keep it for my daughter to read in a few years. Stories like these just do not go out of style.

LOVES the Scenario books. Yes, I capitalized on purpose because that almost captures her enthusiasm for this series. Why does she love these books? Because she loves being the character and choosing the outcome. She'll select the wrong choice, and then go back and make the right choice. It leads to great conversations as we talk about what makes one choice better than the other.
In the first story, Magna, one of the girls gets hired at a popular clothing store. Sneaking out coupons to her friends turns into pressure to help them shoplift dresses and jeans for an upcoming party. Will she do and what are the consequences if she does. And what should she do with the money she earns? Then in Making Waves, the main character joins a swim team and is offered performance enhancing drugs. What harm could come of that?
What I love about this book and the others in the series is the way they address real life issues head on, and help tweens and teens decide ahead of time what they would do in a similar situation. Like Choose your Adventures with a purpose.

This is a two-books-in-one volume that is the second volume in Nicole O'Dell's series Scenarios- Interactive Fiction for Girls. Read each story, then choose what the main character will do next by choosing one of two alternate endings. I highly recommend this series to all girls. These are fun stores with relatable characters that give the reader a chance to see each side of a major choice. I've given a review of each story below.
Molly and her friends want to find a part time job to earn extra cash and a discount on great clothes. But Molly is the only one of her trio that gets hired at Manga, the coolest clothing store ever. At first everything is going great. Molly is really good at her job and quickly gets more responsibility. But some girls at school try to bully her into giving her special deals and then her best friends ask her to do something she knows is wrong. What will Molly do?
Whether Molly chose to break the law or stand against her friends, she was still Molly. There were consequences to both choices, and some consequences were harder to live through than others, but the story wasn't preachy. It was honest. So even in the ending where Molly chose to break the law, there was still redemption, and it was neat to read how she dealt with such humbling circumstances.
An avid lake swimmer, sophomore Kate Walker tries out for the swimming team. Not only does she make the team, she makes varsity and becomes the best swimmer on the team. Her coach talks with her about the future and the possibilities of college scholarships. Kate is excited, but her new schedule has her so busy, it's hard to keep up. Some of the other girls on the team share their secret with Kate: coffee and energy drinks. Kate knows that her coach probably wouldn't like them drinking so much caffeine, but it's legal, so it's okay, right? But as the season progresses to the state championship and the opportunity to set a new record and impress a college scout, Kate is beyond stresses out. When her teammates offer her a way to get through the day that Kate knows is illegal, what will she do?
In both endings Kate was able to push through the consequences and find redemption. The enormity of the choice she faced played out in both endings and showed how much power one right or wrong choice can make in a person's life.

Have you ever thought about what the consequences of your actions could lead too ? What is right and wrong and sometimes , though at the time -it seems you won't get caught or by doing the right thing, you could lose what you thought you had as we read in Book #3 and Book #4.
Book #3 is titled "Magna" and tells the story of three friends who decide to look for a job at the retail shop "Magna" in order to earn money and get a discount on the clothes, so they all apply. However , there is only one opening at this time. So which friend will get the job, Will it be Sara , Jessica or Molly ? Molly ends up with the job and from the start , you can see that retail and fashion are her passion . When her friends and others at school , ask her for a discount -she offers them discounted coupons, but when her friends decide to take it a step further and ask Molly to steal for them , will Molly decide to do the right thing or will she do wrong and what will the consequences of each action be ? The Novel gets up to the event like a normal book and then you -the reader are left to choose the action and depending what action you choose afterwards it does give you the option to see what happened if you had chosen the other.
For Molly, if she choose not to go along with the plan , she lost all her so-called friends but kept her job and if she did go with the plan, she lost not only her trust with her family but also she lost the job she had done so well in , all in the name of peer pressure.
In Book #4 Making Waves we are presented with Sophomore Kate Walker who decides to try something new and finds herself on the Swim Team . At first , it begins as a bit of fun but soon Kate realises that it is something she has great talent at and soon all her time is made up of practices and practices and of course the goal of making it through championships and coming out in Gold -First place. What Kate doesn't realise is that the others on the swim team are taking things to the next level with drugs , caffeine and of course an energy pick-up called Red Dragon. It does seem harmless but when the pressure comes to Kate, will she readily accept their illegal concoction and participate in the competition, knowing inside her that it was wrong and she cheated or will Kate do what's right and make her own way through the championships -the correct way with hard work , endurance and perserverance. Will her so-called team mates turn on Kate when she declines or if she readily accepts what happens when the swim coach finds out , will it turn out to be a short-lived career in swimming for Kate ?
