Although this is a comprehensive set, it is really not entirely necessary for Saxon Math 2. I wish I would have known that before paying, but, being new to homeschooling, I didn't know what was needed and what could be done without. This includes all supplies for k-2 which is overkill for Grade 2. I'd recommend it for someone in the lower grades as a help.

This kit is a bit pricey but invaluable with the saxon maths book set. I am sure it would not work out much cheaper to buy the items individualy though. The kit comes in a large sturdy box so it is easy to keep everything together and the bright colours make it very child friendly.

This is a great manipulatives kit. I reasearched a lot and found this to be the most well rounded and less expensive kit to purchase. I will be using this for a while.

The linking cubes are too difficult for children to do themselves. The balance is pretty cheap, and not exactly balanced when empty.

I was happy with the quality of most of the components, except for the balance which seemed a bit "Cheap".

This is a great product for teaching math. The hands on approach really works. The tools used in this kit prepare children for all of math life skills.

Great stuff...definitely worth buying instead of trying to piecemeal together on your own. Only complaint...the interlocking cubes are really hard for my kids to snap together..they're really tight! That's problematic during lessons in which they are supposed to add on and take away over and over...the difficulty adds about 20 minutes to our lessons as they laboriously try to snap them together. Sometimes I just resort to helping them out of frustration. :)

This is my first kit I've purchased for manipulatives. Given the price I didn't expected such a cheap feel to some of the items. I will have to buy rulers from a local store, the ones that came with the kit are so rough, I'm afraid my child will get slivers off of them. ALso, had a hard time getting linking cubes together myself, I don't expect my child could do it as a 5yr old.
