I am new to Saxon Math and my two older boys love it! They are Grades 2 & 3. This workbook is used with the teacher's manual and meeting book. The teacher's manual is very detailed and thorough but don't be overwhelmed. Lessons are scripted and cover a range of activities and skills each day (spiral learning) so it's not the same drill day after day. This book contains timed assessments (they enjoy the challenge and try to beat the clock) and workbook sheets they do on their own after you go over the material with them. My boys can't wait to do their math and ask to do it on days off!

This is a very good visual that can be used for reinforcing all the math lessons.

3rd Grade Saxon Math is incremental and comprehensive, giving enough introductory help and thorough review to master math skills necessary. Switching from the ABeka program to Saxon, I was leery of a new curriculum, but after quickly adjusting to the new routine, I and my son are enjoying it and are on our way to a successful year of Math skills mastery! No frustration for the educator, no confusion for the pupil.

I am using this book again! It is my seventh time teaching with Saxon Math three and I will use it on our eighth child as well. It is easy to use and covers all the bases so my children have a thorough, complete math education. I was never good at math and have learned right along with the children so that now I feel comfortable and competent myself!

I am a math teacher in California who has used Saxon products for 8 years. Saxon continues to be the best program that I have seen, although my students move through the lessons at a faster pace than is suggested. My Saxon students are typically in the 90th percentile or higher by 8th grade, and at the 98th to 99th percentile if they complete half a year of the advanced math text. You can't go wrong with Saxon if you do all the lessons, and correct all mistakes!

This has been perfect for me and my daughter who is in the third grade. I highly recommend buying the "manipulatub" that goes along with this set. My daughter has loved the hands-on approach to math. With constant repetition in temperature, number patterns, word problems, coin counting, and the calendar, my daughter has an excellent foundation in mathematics. There are wonderful activities (we baked brownies in one lesson) that really drive home the information. The lesson plans are so easy, any parent can do it. Each lesson has a list of items you will need. It's a very user-friendly series. Math was not my best subject in school and now I'm finding that I look forward to math time. This is so much easier than Abeka math. If you are homeschooling or if you want to supplement your child's math, I highly recommend the Saxon series.
