Melissa R.5 Stars Out Of 5Great math curriculaNovember 3, 2014Melissa R.Quality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5We did lots of research before selecting this math curricula. My child is old enough to participate in selecting curricula. Saxon is a wonderful math curricula! The mixed practice at the end of each lesson is a lot so I go through and have my child do the ones I feel she needs to do. She ends up doing around 20 out of the 30. She also does all the warm-up and all the lesson practice problems which come before the mixed practice. Everyone knows what is best for their child and should decide what is best for their individual child when assigning the math problems. This curricula provides continuous review of problems from previous lessons in each mixed practice. We liked this concept as it will prevent my child from forgetting what she did a week ago. It does seem to move a little quickly so I would only recommend this math for a child that is able to learn math concepts quickly. Each lesson is explained really well! There are many examples given in each lesson. We also have the teacher cd rom which we have used when she has a tough time with some of the problems. Though I do feel the teacher cd rom is overpriced; Especially since we don't even need to use it that often. Next time we may just purchase the Dive cd or skip it all together and just get the books since the books are very thorough in explaining each math lesson. The answer key is awesome because it shows the work for each problem, not just the answer.

K&AMOM5 Stars Out Of 5Finally!!October 4, 2014K&AMOMQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My 12 year old daughter and I have been having "issues" with math for the past 2 years or so. We had always used Horizons Math, but when we reached the 4th grade level, it seem liked there was more work and less explanation. It you, as a teacher, did not fully understand the lesson, you were toast. She said she did not understand what she was doing AND it was sooooo boring. We kept getting farther behind until we were a full year "behind". Then, we FINALLY decided to test into Saxon and found out that my daughter was not behind, Horizons Math was just that far ahead. As a 7th grader, she tested into 87. She loves the DIVE CD and says she finally understands what is being taught to her. I am so pleased with the Saxon that I am switching my other daughter as well.

newbee5 Stars Out Of 5User Friendly & Solid Curriculum! My child loves itJanuary 25, 2012newbeeQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I had heard great things from others using Saxon Math and now I know why. I am very pleased with it in the short time we have been using it (we're up to lesson 10 -- 2 weeks). My child is also very happy with it....likes the format, likes the way the lessons are explained. We switched Math curriculum mid year due to previous one not explaining concepts enough and not giving enough practice on new concepts to be able to master and retain the new info. Frustration has been replaced with eagerness to do daily math lessons thanks to Saxon. Other pros: Solutions manual shows all the steps to solving each problem. Record keeping sheets make it easy to keep it all organized.
