We used the dive Algebra 1 last year for my daughters 9th grade year. She loved it!! Using Algebra 2 for 10th grade has been a noghtmare. These books incorparate Geometry, hopefully giving the student a leg up on high school math, but without taking Geometry, she could not complete the assignments. Needless to say, we discontinued use of Algebra 2 and purchased Bob Jones Geometry. We will give the Saxon Algebra 2 a try for her 11th grade year of high school.
This kit is a good value, but it is not all that is need for the course.

We had used Saxon throughout elementary and middle school then tried some other curriculum. We decided to come back to Saxon this year. With my earlier purchases the "Answer Key" included in the kit contained all the solutions for the problems. With this set, the solutions manual must be purchased separately, which I did not realize. Make sure you order the kit and the solutions manual!
I have enjoyed working with Saxon Math in the past, and naturally went to it for Algebra 2 this year. I am pleased how the material is refreshed in each lesson, so things are not forgotten. I appreciate how the problems are taught. I highly recommend the DVD's to be purchased with this product as it helps explain right along with the book. I was disappointed, as we have discovered that the tests questions given, used the wrong formulas and weren't clear on the questions. For example, when asked what the supplementary angle of 37, my child and I both figure 143. However, the answer listed was 53. It wasn't told it was of a 90 degree angle. As her teacher, I'm having to do a bunch of double checking in the book. I would much more appreciate if I could rely on the book having the correct test answers or clarity in the questions or even what form they would like the answers in.
