I had only heard her once before, on a song she wrote when she visited a 3rd world country. It broke my heart and every time I would hear it, I would cry too much! So I figured I needed to hear more. When I saw this CD for such a great bargain I dove in. Her voice reminds me of Joni Mitchell, a secular singer I used to hear before I was a Christian, back in the 70's. Very melodic and sometimes heart-rending.
I purchased this CD based on the type of music and pervious reviews. I listened to a couple of the tracks before purchasing it, but on the whole it is not quite what I hoped for. The music is not the kind of music I would normally listen to. I guess I was expecting more of a christ centered CD. Too much like contemporary everyday music than christian music for me.
My daughter introduced me to Sarah Groves and her musical ministry. Her music speaks directly to the a young wife and mothers heart. May the hearts of dedicated young wives and mothers be lifted by these songs.
In my opinion, this is her best album to date. Lyrics are very introspective and thoughtful. Melodies range from haunting to fun. Anyone who is a fan of Sara Groves will love this album. It is my favorite so far.
