Product Description

While most missionary biographies detail the lives of Western missionaries, this is the story of the African missionary God called to the United States when slavery and segregation were an accepted fact of life. This book details the moving life story of Samuel Morris. After a miraculous escape from certain death during the ravages of intertribal warfare in Liberia, Africa, Kaboo was converted to Christ by Methodist missionaries and baptized under the name Samuel Morris. Traveling to America for pastoral training in the late 1880's, his trip was a missionary voyage in itself when several seamen were led to Christ through his godly life. At Taylor University his example of faith made him a leader among the students and a challenge to the faculty. For ages 12 and up.

I was familiar with the story of Samuel Morris because I went to Taylor University. But I was glad to find that the book was still in print. The guiding light that led Samuel Morris out of the jungle reminded me of the fire by night that led the Israelites in the desert and the star that went before the wise mean and stopped over the house where Jesus was born. It also is a reminder that miracles still occur.

The life of Samuel Morris is an example of what we can be when we surrender our lives to Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. From the first page I was captivated by the love of God lived out in this simple boy's life. I've read it over and over and have bought several copies to share with others. Samuel Morris is still bringing people to Christ because of the life he lived in Christ.

The journey this young man took in search of gaining a better understanding of the Holy Spirit is one of great inspiration. I recommend all youth and adults alike to read the life story of Kaboo "Samuel Morris". Readers will be inspired and motivated by his life.
