"Sacred Compass is the perfect companion for those seeking to follow God in the way of Jesus in the midst of the realities of 21st century life. Brent Bill graciously and passionately opens the pathway of the spiritual practice of discernment for the novice and deepens the possibilities for the well experienced. This book will serve as a revelation for many and well could be the start of a revolution for a new generation Christians." - Doug Pagitt, pastor of Solomons Porch and author of A Christianity Worth Believing
"Sacred Compass celebrates and reassures that on this engaging, glorious, bewildering human journey, we individually and communally carry with us an ever present divine source of navigation." -Carrie Newcomer, Rounder recording artist, The Geography of Light

Tell us a little about yourself. I am a Quaker minister and author. I have written or contributed to 18 books, including (previously) Holy Silence: The Gift of Quaker Spirituality and Mind the Light: Learning to See with Spiritual Eyes.
What was your motivation behind this project? I wanted to help people think about their lives as pilgrimages -- journeys to God. And to see that spiritual discernment is much less about making the "right" decisions than it is uncovering the will of God as we live daily.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? Keeping our souls eyes on the sacred compass leads us to the holy discovery that we can move through life with purpose and promise, even in those times when we may not sense with certainty what that purpose and promise are. In a grace-filled way, our compass invites us into a life of continuous experiences of God and of spiritual transformation. As we move toward Divine guidance, we joyfully behold the face of a loving God gazing back at us.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I was constantly reminded of the many ways God has worked in my life and led me -- even when I failed to notice that work and guidance. And I was inspired by the stories friends shared about me about their seeking God's will.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? I like Philip Yancey, Ann Lamott, Kathleen Norris, Richard J. Foster ... there are so many that it's hard to make a list of just a few. Every writer I've ever read has had something to teach me about writing as a spiritual endeavor.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: That I hope readers find this book both helpful -- and hopeful!
