Eric has done an outstanding job weaving a tale that captures and keeps the attention of the teenage audience for which this book was written. After being recommended to me by a friend, I purchase both this book and it's predecessor Ryan Watters And The King's Sword. My son completed the first one in three days, and the second one in two days! He is now asking when the next book in the series is coming out!!!? One of the challenges I face as a parent is finding healthy, wholesome books for my children to read, and these two definitely fill the bill, which leaves me eagerly asking the question: "When is the next book in the series coming out?"

"Ryann Watters and the King's Sword" is an uplifting tale that readily incorporates portions of Scripture in innovative ways. I really liked how Mr. Reinhold has the abilities and gifts of the main character, Ryann, expand as he delves deeper into God's word. The story is simple but Truth is deeply interwoven with the action. Everyone in my family has enjoyed reading the story - even my seven-year-old brother! I highly recommend this story to all readers.

This fast-paced story is a great way to introduce fantasy to young readers. The author firmly grounds his tale in the real-life town of Mount Dora before his characters enter the fantasy realm of Aeliana. Talking animals, brilliant colors, and supernatural visitors will delight even the most reluctant readers.

This book was surprisingly good. As much action as anybody could want, plus characters that you can relate to. When I first started it I expected some dumb, fantasy that needs serious editing. I was happy to be proven wrong.

I loved reading Ryann Watters and the King's Sword and meeting more animals that talk, just like in Narnia. From Raz the raccoon to Griffin the fox, Aeliana is full of wonderful characters to have adventures with. I look forward to getting to know even more splendid characters in the books to come!

Author/Artist Review

Author: Eric Reinhold

Submitted: February 15, 2009

Tell us a little about yourself.  I was recruited to play football at the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated with a degree in Economics. I served 5 years as an officer in the Navy and earned my MBA from the University of Baltimore. I am currently the President of Academy Wealth Management and write for a number of financial magazines and newsletters. I am an adult Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Sweetwater Church in Longwood, FL, where my wife Kim and three children attend.

What was your motivation behind this project?  When my daughters were younger, I created a fantasy story which I told them nightly as a bedtime story. After awhile they encouraged me to write a book so that other kids could enjoy it as well.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  My goal was to create a fantasy series the incorporated both moral character issues and biblical values. My desire is that kids would come away from my book wanting to read their Bible more.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  Instead of witches and wizards, I wanted a story to revolve around the supernatural. Angels and Demons came to mind and I've enjoyed working scripture into the story line as much as I can to get kids to think.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  I was invited to travel with 7 other authors in the fall of 2008 on the Fantasy Fiction Tour to promote the Christian Fantasy genre. The other authors were awesome: Bryan Davis, Donita K. Paul, Wayne Thomas Batson, L. B. Graham, Jonathan Rogers and Sharon Hinck.

Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know:  Book 2 in my series, "Ryann Watters and the Shield of Faith," will be available in May of 2009 and I am currently at work on "Ryann Watters and the Belt of Truth," with a goal of May 2010. My blog has updates on the projects: ryannwatters.blogspot.com and my website has ongoing contests and other fun stuff: ryannwatters.com Blessings!
