Children often notice the little things that adults miss. A train of ants crawling along the ground or a beautiful sunset. Author Jeanne Gowen Dennis challenges adults to add this childlike wonder and innocence to their relationship with God. Using delightful stories, fun exercises, and penetrating scriptural insights, "Running Barefoot on Holy Ground" is an insightful and captivating look at growing closer to God by becoming more like a child.

Tell us a little about yourself. As a mother, grandmother, aunt, former children's choir director, Sunday school and homeschool teacher, and one of eight children myself, I have learned about childlikeness firsthand. RUNNING BAREFOOT is my tenth book. The eleventh, an historical novel called MARTA'S PROMISE, was released in October 2006. After almost thirty years in beautiful Colorado, I recently moved to lovely Florida. My husband and I will celebrate thirty years of marriage in 2007. I'd love for you to visit my website, which is www.barefootonholyground.com. There you will find two online magazines (e-zines) called Barefoot Path and Barefoot for Kids. I also have a section called Homeschool Cove with information and encouragement for homeschoolers. You can also find more information about me as a writer and speaker.
What was your motivation behind this project? Most people, including myself, tend to view God as much smaller than He really is. We can't begin to fathom His greatness or the incredible love He has for us. Children often see more clearly than adults can. Jesus said that we must become as little children to enter the kingdom of heaven. Through anecdotes, scriptures, fun exercises, and biblical application, I explored what childlikeness means and how becoming more childlike can help us all to grow in intimacy with the One who loves us best.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? I hope that through reading RUNNING BAREFOOT ON HOLY GROUND readers will find greater fulfillment and joy in knowing God more intimately. I want them to see themselves more clearly, as the beloved children of their heavenly Creator/Daddy.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My favorite authors include (but are not limited to) C. S. Lewis, Bev Lewis, Gene Edward Veith, P.G. Wodehouse, and William Shakespeare. I especially enjoy beautiful art that depicts children realistically.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: One reader wrote to tell me that she and her friend read this book and had lots of fun with the activities in it while taking a cruise. She said it was perfect to take along on vacation.
