Series: Dakotah Treasures
Book 1 of Dakotah Treasures. Author Lauraine Snelling once again takes readers west to the untamed land of Dakota Territory, introducing new characters both unique and appealing. Ruby Torvald and her young sister, Opal, have received an inheritance from their long-lost father who left home years ago to seek his fortune in the Black Hills. When they leave their comfortable situation in Chicago and arrive at the mining town of Medora to claim their inheritance, the sisters discover that rather than the legacy of gold they expected, their father has left them a shocking bequest. Ruby's bold determination in the face of scandal leads the reader on a journey both heartwarming and inspiring.
Besides writing both books and articles, Lauraine teaches at writer's conferences across the country and has an active speaking career. She and husband Wayne have two grown sons, four grand dogs and live in the country where Lauraine can garden, sew, do crafts, cross stitch, enjoy her birds and eventually have a horse again.

Enjoyed reading. Ruby is an excellent Christian fiction book. I bought the other books in this series and all are excellent. Would give more stars if allowed. Don't miss this one!
Suzy1 Stars Out Of 5Ending is terribleJuly 23, 2012SuzyQuality: 1Value: 1Meets Expectations: 1This book resolves nothing at the end. You spend time meandering around different plots only to have them mean nothing in the end.
For example, Ruby remembers several times in the story that she has neglected reading her Bible and praying. I expected a return to her devotions and relationship with God by the end of the book. But....nothing.
She meets a man who loves her and she loves him. Much of the book develops their relationship. He leaves town, and I expected his return in the end, but...nothing.
This book was only slightly entertaining and a real let-down in the end. Don't waste your time.
