Rosetta Stone students progress independently at their own pace. Parents can choose whether to use a preloaded lesson plan or full-year curriculum track, create their own lessons, or use an alternate program to focus on specific skills such as listening & speaking or reading & writing. Students are tested periodically, automatically advancing as their scores improve through reviewing weaker areas. At the completion of a unit, students complete a "Milestone Activity" in which they must speak into the microphone and participate in a conversation. The built-in reporting tool gives parents the ability to view, print and export student results, including completed exercises, current lesson progress, scores, and time spent learning.
Reinforce your language skills anywhere, anytime with the audio companion; five audio activities per level correspond with the computer lessons and provide additional conversation practice. At home or on the go, you can redeem the time by improving your pronunciation, vocabulary, phrases, speaking & conversation skills. MP3 Files.

VirginianVAAge: 35-44Gender: Female2 Stars Out Of 5Also disappointedJanuary 11, 2016VirginianVAAge: 35-44Gender: FemaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 1I bought all 5 levels. My son started in September w/ Level 1 Latin American Spanish (homeschool version). When we tried to open the program after Christmas break, I got an error and it wouldn't open. Tried the chat support and a phone call. The program would open, but all the progress was lost. I was told it was still there by one support person, and that it was lost by two other support people. I'm still working with them on this problem, but so disappointed that only half-way through a semester and so many technical problems. Another issue is there is little help with the supplemental worksheets. They are confusing even with the English directions. There needs to be a teacher manual to help guide the students.
Angela S.2 Stars Out Of 5So disappointedFebruary 11, 2014Angela S.We have had a similar experience to dylan. While the content is great, the technical issues are beyond frustrating. Couple that with a polite, but unhelpful customer service, and you can imagine how disappointing it is to have invested a good chunk of money in this program.
I have been on the phone with Rosetta Stone customer service five times now since January because even though my son scores a 100% and has completed every activity, it will not allow him to move forward.
I had high hopes for Rosetta Stone, but after the "free" customer service telling me they could no longer help us, and the fee for calling the "tier 1" customer service being $19.99 a pop, I'm burnt. We also attempted the "Live Chat" free option, but found that even less helpful than the free customer service, and it took twice as long. I started to get discouraged when they were consistently asking if I had rebooted the program and then asking if I restarted my computer. Those are pretty basic. We are using a laptop that's under a year old with no other issues.
The last two calls made, they told me there is a version 4 available, but that it was not available in the homeschool version, and both implied that since I purchased this in August, it was "outdated". What? I purchase something for a school year, and a year is not even over, and it's outdated?
Quite frankly, I feel robbed. This was intended for another son to use the following year. What a let down. I'm presently looking for something as a replacement for Year 2 Spanish.
NewhsmomAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great learning toolAugust 30, 2013NewhsmomAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5My son is excelling in Spanish! (I'm taking it too!) You can add as many students as you like. You choose how you want to use it, full year or only certain aspects of the language (i.e. reading, writing, speaking). It does all the grading for you and as a new homeschooling mom, this is very helpful.
dylanAge: 45-542 Stars Out Of 5AggravatingDecember 18, 2012dylanAge: 45-54Quality: 2Value: 2Meets Expectations: 2While the material is good we have had nothing but problems with the program itself. It consistently locks up and will not work. After repeated attempts to get it fixed with "customer service" we have about given up.
Not worth the money!
RoseUrbandale, IAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Rosetta Stone lives up to its hype.September 13, 2012RoseUrbandale, IAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I purchased Rosetta Stone Spanish Levels I-V for my homeschooled daughter. She breezed through half of Level II in just one month, with a solid handle on both grammar and pronunciation. She said in school the teacher holds everyone back for the slow students. But with Rosetta Stone she learns at her pace.
Q: Can more than one student use the Rosetta program and be recognized separately?
This can be installed on up to two computers, with the ability to track five students on each one.
Q: Is there any garantee for this product?
All Rosetta Stone products can be returned within 30 days from the date of purchase.
Q: What is the difference between the homeschool version and a non homeschool version/regular version?
The homeschool edition provides the ability to track student progress and print grade reports. The Latin American Spanish language program also includes a printable student workbook.
Q: Would each level be considered a one year's credit for a high school foreign language? For example, Level 1 would satisfy the first year foreign language credit, Level 2 the second year credit, and so on.
