Revelation: Discover Together Bible Study
Inductive Study of Revelation
Sue Edwards has more than thirty years of experience into the classroom as a Bible teacher, curriculum writer, and overseer of several megachurch womenâÂÂs ministries. She serves as minister to women at Irving Bible Church and director of womenâÂÂs ministry at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas.
Her newest book in the Discover Together Series is an inductive study of Revelation. It is a nine lesson study covering the first three chapters and last two chapters of Revelation. Although not a comprehensive study of the book, Edwards offers great insight into the seven churches and our future in GodâÂÂs kingdom.
If you are looking for an in-depth study of Revelation, you wonâÂÂt find it in this book; however, if you are looking for something basic to guide you into a knowledge of GodâÂÂs message to the seven churches and how you can apply them to your life. Edwards doesnâÂÂt give you the answers, but she helps you discover them for yourselfâÂÂa valuable tool in further Bible study.
I particularly enjoyed the digging deeper exercises which take you to other scriptures to further help you apply what you learn to your life. Revelation, as Edwardsâ points out, is often used as a source for end times study; however, it contains so much information about how we should prepare for eternity in our heavenly home not just for the end of our earthly home.
Edwards' intentions are for this book to be used primarily in a small group as her passion is to bring women together through a study of God's Word and let them learn together. It works well as an individual study; however, you will miss out on some great discussion opportunities.

A Study on The First Three & Last Two Chapters
Sue Edwards in her new book âÂÂRevelationâ A Discover Together Bible Study published by Kregel Publications helps us Discovering Life for Today and Eternity.
From the back cover: Discovering Life for Today and Eternity.
Throughout history people have speculated how the earth will end. Though it is often seen as the best source for end times study, the book of Revelation is not about predicting the end, but about preparing for eternal life.
Join Sue Edwards on this inductive study of Revelation, one of the most misunderstood books of the Bible, and discover how to ready yourself for your heavenly home.
Revelation is the only book of The Bible that tells us it comes with a blessing for reading it. Yet, most people shy away from reading it because the imagery that it contains seems to be very difficult to understand. There are many, many books on the market that offer really in-depth analysis of practically each word and for the real student of The Bible those books are wonderful. Sue Edwardsâ book is not an in-depth analysis of the whole book. Rather âÂÂRevelationâ is nine studies on the first three and the last two chapters that are designed to provide a better understanding of just what the book is all about. By looking at what Jesus had to say to the early churches we can see the same situations existing today and how to correct them. And then there is The Age To Come which gives us a picture of our new home. It is worth the time to sit and study this book and Sue Edwards has given us a marvelous tool in this study book. I recommend this book highly.
âÂÂRevelationâ Online Bible Study!
Revelation: Discovering Life for Today and Eternity.
Join the online Bible study (2/4 â 4/8) with Sue Edwards! And invite your friends to join you.
Sue will be posting weekly on the Year of Discovery Facebook Page and interacting with groups and individuals around the country going through the study at the same time. Women will be able to discuss the study with each other and ask questions via Facebook. Once readers complete the Revelation study, Edwards will be going through the Ephesians study in the same way. (An April 11 Facebook launch party will be followed by an April 15 â June 17 online study.)
Completing each lesson requires about one-and-a-half hours. Readers still receive in-depth Bible study but with a minimum time commitment. For those who desire a more thorough study, including an opportunity to learn more about the history, culture and geography related to the Bible, Edwards has provided âÂÂDigging Deeperâ questions. Answering these questions may require outside resources such as an atlas, Bible dictionary or concordance and challenge readers to examine complex theological issues and differing views more closely.
More about the Revelation study: Edwards and Kregel are especially excited about the new Revelation study that has been added to the series. âÂÂI have focused on five special chaptersâÂÂthe first three and the last twoâÂÂpassages that I believe are most pertinent for Christians today,â writes Edwards. âÂÂI find a thorough investigation of these five chapters the most beneficial as we consider how God wants us to prepare for the end.â âÂÂThe first three chapters paint a glorious picture of the resurrected Christ and record his seven letters to first-century churches. These early churches represent the different kinds of churches that have existed through the ages. The letters both commend and point out deficiencies in these churches, providing lessons to help us get ready for our future,â Edwards continues. âÂÂThe last two chapters unfold with unspeakable energy, beauty and promise, as John describes what Jesus shows him: a new Eden, redemptionâÂÂs climax and our eternal home. Walk with me through these incredible pages, and experience the blessing that God promised to all who read and heed.âÂÂ

Digging Deeper - An Inductive Study of Revelation
âÂÂRevelationâ is one of seven inductive Bible studies available in the Discover Together Bible Study series developed by Sue Edwards. Sue is known for her gift of equipping men and women for ministry as a classroom Bible teacher, curriculum writer, and director of womenâÂÂs ministry at the Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas.
This study is designed for individual or group Bible study. A unique feature of the study is the downloadable free leaderâÂÂs guides available on their series website. Short video clips are also available on the website for viewing with a QR code for scanning from your smartphone. Each of the nine lessons is formatted for optional levels of study based on individual lifestyles and time available. These options include: Basic Questions, a short video clip, inspirational sidebars, a passage for committing to memory, and final thoughts for further meditation. The Digging Deeper questions encourage the use of additional resources; A Bible dictionary, concordance, and atlas.
Edwards concentrates her study on the first three and the last two chapters of the book of Revelation. Chapters one through three reveal the resurrected Christ in His letters to the first-century churches and chapters twenty-one and twenty-two are filled with promise as John relates Jesusâ description of our final redemption, our eternal home, and the guarantee of His soon return.
âÂÂRevelation: A Discovery Together Bible Studyâ emphasizes a womenâÂÂs viewpoint; however, anyone looking for a inductive Bible study with personal application for our contemporary lifestyles, or a deeper devotional life will find the study both adaptable and practical.
